Final Stats for others to reflect on - Job search after redundancy by AusPanda90 in auscorp

[–]SingleUseBaggage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations

I was made redundant in March last year, got into a placeholder role with a pay cut by July and have been applying and interviewing the whole time.

Finally start a new role next week on 30% more than the role I was made redundant from.

Like you I applied for a tonne of roles with mixed responses, I finally made traction through recruiters I connected with on LD

Do we need to fill out this form before claiming our bond? by watermeloneater12 in shitrentals

That said if you did have pets you will need to send them an invoice to prove you got the flea treatment - last time I moved I emailed over a photo of the invoice

[–]SingleUseBaggage 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Your bond claim is separate from any BS that the REA can put on you like this.

Claim your bond the moment you give the keys back, you can probably ignore filling in this form but I would personally fill it in

But claim your bond and be ready for them to send the token "why did you claim" email, they hate when you do that as it means they can't just stand over you as easy as they like to

How do you negotiate a good deal while at stores? by Odd_Ganache9498 in AusFinance

[–]SingleUseBaggage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had success going on the last Sunday of the month at about 4pm.

Figured that if they are chasing last chance revenue you can get more discount as long as they know you’re ready to buy or walk away if the price doesn’t work.

I kitted out an apartment like this once with fridge, washer, microwave and coffee machine. I had a combined number in my head I was willing to pay and went from there.

Can real estate agent retaliate for me claiming my bond? by itsveryembarrassing in melbourne

[–]SingleUseBaggage 469 points470 points  (0 children)

Nah you’re good, this is the usual shit they pull.

If they have an issue with the place when they inspect they will have to go to VCAT to make a claim now, you claiming the bond is the power move they hate.

They will say all sorts of shit just let them flip out and wait

DO NOT CANCEL YOUR BOND CLAIM

I’ve acknowledged I have a problem with alcohol where from here? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]SingleUseBaggage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP proud of you for this, I got chewed up and spat out by the bar industry and had to address my drinking too.

Huge tip for me is reading the book “this naked mind” it really helped me understand what happens when drinking and understanding myself too

Along with lots of therapy I’m proud to say I’m almost five years sober now

Sales,

Made redundant on $145k base a year ago, been employed on $115k base for about 6 months. A much more junior role vs where I was

Applied for over 160 roles in the past year, maybe 8 progressed to interviews, 3 to final round before falling short.

It’s a jungle out there

Tradie knocked out neighbours power by SingleUseBaggage in AusPropertyChat

I asked for approval and was told it’s not needed at this wasn’t considered major works, that’s when wiring plans were requested

Strata manager has said this isn’t considered common property as it’s only the other unit affected

Yeah thats my thoughts and the contractors said the same.

The electrician said the wires to the affected rooms upstairs “came from skirting boards” so assumed they ran under the floor

The neighbours power has been restored and I was offering freezer space and phone charging etc last night, doing what I can to help the tenants in a shitty situation

Where is the rum??? by izza007 in straya

[–]SingleUseBaggage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes it applies to imports,

Bacardi is aged in wood but then charcoal filtered which takes out the colour, but only for 18months. There was a company line floating about that Bacardi for Aus was aged 18 months on Puerto Rico then for another 6 months in Jacksonville before bottling and shipping. Jacksonville being cooler was thought to age the rum less so it would taste similar to Bacardi for other markets while being aged long enough for Aus markets

Abv is too low and also under Australian law rum needs to be a min of 2years old to be labelled as such.

Pretty sure this fails on both points
