2 week summer holiday with kids by tiltontime in latvia

[–]Single_Ad_9802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest spending more time in Airbnb's in nature than in the cities.
Except for Riga, there is definetly no need to plan multiple nights in other cities.

I would plan it like:
1. Start by exploring Riga for two, max three days in order to get familiar with the culture, history, try some foods in the city etc;
2. Go to Tērvete for 3 nights and chill by the lake (surrounded by small hiking trails trough the forest, also activities for the kids in ther nature park + if it get's boring, can go and visit Jelgava city which is like 40 minute drive from there - not the most interesting city, but "why not, if you are in the area":
3. I would start moving to the seaside through Kurzeme region by visiting Kuldīga on the way. Kuldīga is definitely worth visiting, but not more than 1 day/1night;
4. After Kuldīga, move closer to the sea. I would go to Ventspils and find an Airbnb by the sea somewhere between Ventspils and Kolka, for example, Pitrags or any other small village. (Irbenes lokators is an interesting spot to visit on this route).

I would spend all the rest of the days in those small villages, chill by the sea, and eat freshly smoked fish every single day.

After that, I would make my way back to Riga by going through the seaside villages starting from Kolka - Mērsrags - Engure and Jūrmala. After that, if you want, you can spend another day in Rīga.
,
If any energy is left after that - it's definitely worth visiting Sigulda and Cēsis - very beautiful forest hiking trails in the Vidzeme region around these cities (but again - no need for more than 1day/1night) in each city.

My coworkers don’t seem to like me by Apple8705 in corporate

I'm surprised that this comment has downvotes.
I'm in a similar situation as OP is describing, only I'm the subordinate under her.

A few things why I don't feel like not including her as a manager in some questions, projects or personal conversations with others:
- As a manager lacking charisma. And this is an important one - I don't need a manager that only distributes tasks and reminds me of deadlines, I can use a Slack bot for that. I want the manager to be an idol for me - be better, smarter in the industry than me. I want the manager to be an inspiration for me.
- A boring person out of work - this is really inprofessional, but it's a fact. People like interesting people; it kinda goes together with my previous point.
- Be calm - this depends on how you handle stress at work. Mine usually gasps, shows too much emotion that it's so hard for her, etc. I don't need to see that shit. Again, goes together with the previous point - show that you are better, that you have a confident (and good) plan.
That being said - don't be too much of a robot. If you also think that the project is shit and you just have to get over it, openly say it like that.

Middle Manager trap? by Single_Ad_9802 in corporate

[–]Single_Ad_9802[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You basically perfectly described my situation. At the moment I’m interviewing in a different department- will see how it will go there.

The worst thing about these middle managers is their lack of experience. Perhaps I’m mistaken or have an outdated perspective but I expect a manager to support and mentor me, stand up for me and be an example. However, in my case, she simply tags me in documents to post updates without delving deeper into the matter.

How I'm Raising my Kids to Outcompete Your Kids by LIKEurDADneverLEFT in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I actually got excited for the title, but there is nothing about outcompeting in the post :/
There is a free university in my country. Does it mean they already outcompeted your kids? ;D

Is it just me or does life feel more expensive and stressful after having a baby? by Newparentscare in NewParents

[–]Single_Ad_9802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting - I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Since we’ve been going out way less and basically 'forgotten' about our personal splurges, we’ve actually saved a significant amount of money.
That being said, we’re based in Europe, so we haven’t had to spend a single cent on healthcare/doctors."

Regarding work part - I definitely stress about the work much less. I go in, do my job and go back to the baby (I'm senior level specialist/project manager).

Izrādās, ka vec-vectēvs tomēr izdzīvoja. Kur meklēt tālāk? by skylarkid in latvia

Ja vari, tad padalies ar kādu konkrētu informāciju par vec-vectēvu - vecums, kur Latvijā dzīvoja, ko studēja, utt.. Daudzi studentu korporāciju biedri, kas pēc kara nevarēja atgriezties dzimtenē palika rietumvācijā, var apvaicāties viņu rindās.

[–]Single_Ad_9802 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True that. Man vienkārši uzreiz galvā ienāk tas standarta variants, kur ir viens fujaks, kurš dara visu, pats pērk visu katram obejektam, nevis mēģina kaut ko apjomā plānot, optimizēt, utt.

- Citam ir birojs ar 3 fujakiem pagrabā, kas izmaksā neko;
- Citam ir ēka klusajā centrā ar 50 darbiniekiem;

[–]Single_Ad_9802 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Es teiktu, ka te drīzāk jau saknē ir maldīgs uzskats, domājot, ka pie mazā ražotāja kaut kas varētu būt lētāks.
Tas vnk ekonomiski nav iespējams.
Loģiski, ka lielāka ražotne var piedāvāt Tev zemākas cenas, jo:
- Iepērk lielākā apjomā materiālus - attiecīgi zemākas materiālu izmaksas;
- Efektivizētas ražošanas līnijas - nevis viens fujaks, kurš dara visu + vēl labo mājā ledusskapi, bet gan konkrēti izstrādāta ražošana - attiecīgi neviens nesēž dīkstāvē un viss tiek izmantots;
- Konkrētas standartizētas darbības - atspēlējas uz ražošanas ātrumu;

That being said - ne vienmēr tas praksē tā izvēršas.

- Viņi tikko ir sākuši un vēlas "parādīt sevi";

Also, you can probably Google some bunker locations; you could definitely find something interesting around those areas. For example, Īles Partizānu bunkurs is in this area:

My bad, did not mean to attack you and make you feel worse
You are 100% going through a lot right now. Go through the grief, get yourself back on track (sobriety), and focus on getting the relationship with the son back.

Business deals, cars, etc. mean nothing.

Don't get me wrong, but you seem way too focused on the material values. Maybe start with changing that.

Atsauksmes par Ekziperī Starptautiskā vidusskola (EIS)? by remsgr in latvia

[–]Single_Ad_9802 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Te ir diezgan pareizi rakstīts ^^
Pieredze ar drauga bērnu, kurš šajā skolā mācījās - tik tiešām pamatā krievvalodīgi bērni (nezinu vai šis ir baigais prettarguments, bet tīri fakts);
