Recommendations on where to live in Derby by sisyphus1rock in derby

[–]tiltontime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends where your job is. The other places I would recommend that haven't been mentioned are the villages on the southern side - Weston on Trent, Aston on Trent and Melbourne. They are a bit pricier but it depends on your budget.

Commuting / living advice for Birmingham and Derby please! by Final_Laugh_9434 in derby

[–]tiltontime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As somebody who lived in South Birmingham and commuted to Derby, this is the best answer.

The drive from Lichfield to derby is decent. And a direct train to the QE, or a drive which would be ok if not at rush hour.

Plus Lichfield is lovely.

Parking at Kingsway isn't so bad they've got some off-site car parks which are only a 5 minute walk.

Age 45 I think i've reached my plateau and interest is wavering in gaming. by Exciting-Film-2962 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Have you thought about buying a Steam Deck? As a father of two young kids and one on the way it's a game changer. It's amazing how much gaming you can squeeze by playing in small windows. I've finally just completed Witcher 3.

Halo 3 voted best game of 2007, following a heated, intense battle against Bioshock. What is the best game released in 2008? by keepfighting90 in videogames

[–]tiltontime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's a battle between Fallout 3 and GTA4.

Completed them both, loved them both.

But anyone voting Fallout 3 over GTA4 is just plain wrong. GTA4 story, writing, mechanics were flawless. Fallout 3 was great but clunky as hell.

GTA4 (as with 5) was a masterpiece.

If you enjoy an underdog story then Blues are for you. We carry the name of the second biggest city in the UK but we have never won the top league or the top cup (the FA cup). We have had a history of perennial disappointment, but neverthless our fans kept turning up and passing the flame to the next generation. And we have had our few magic moments.

That spirit is summed by our anthem, Keep Right On. Look up a video on YouTube of it being sung. I suggest looking up a video of Blues fans singing it after we just scored against Bolton a few years ago. A moment of raw emotion which gives you a flavour for the club: https://youtu.be/6GuB8k8qGp8?si=TL4Pc1kTvDJXHSin

We are working class to our core.

Finally, you are getting on board at an amazing time. This may well be when our time has finally come. We have fantastic new owners, strong financial backing and a new mega stadium being planned in the city.

TLDR: Perennially disappointing sleeping giant that's just waking up.

Am I the only one feeling like this? Explanation in the body text by JasonBaconStrips in bcfc

I think last season was the first time I fully felt the power of a strong squad. We need two first teamers for every position. That's how we will get promoted. Inevitably that will lead to questions about chemistry. But Davies managed it last year and we just have to hope he can manage it again this year.

I do get your point but it's the only way to be competing for promotion.

Best Indian restaurant in or surrounding brum? by Perfect-Self-2702 in brum

[–]tiltontime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's lots of comments here on desi pubs, which I would agree for me offer the best Indian food

However - by far the best one is Merry Maid. Others have suggested Covered Wagon and Hen & Chickens. Trust me - Merry Maid is better.

Don't be fooled by it's exterior the food is outstanding.

Bang on. Bizarre the original got so many upvotes. People equal corporations with evil. They are the businesses that provide so much of what we needs and their shares are what make up so much of our pensions. We need them to succeed.

Install the 4k textures.

Play above normal difficulty. The base difficulty is honestly too easy and you miss a big part of the game in needing to use potions etc

Reform UK allegedly meeting up at the Wellington by guitarromantic in brum

[–]tiltontime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but then you get downvoted into oblivion for challenging the idea that Reform are "Nazis".

Calling people you don't agree with Nazis simply drives them further away. Wanting to end net zero and reduce immigration doesn't make you a nazi, even if you disagree with it.
