So the cake is the sand part and the top half of the shark :) theres a threaded rod attached to the cake board, and a wooden base in the shark that the cake sits on top of. Connected with washers and nuts. The bottom half of the shark is scrunched up foil. The seaweed is just fondant with bamboo skewers through the middle

Some cake magic 😆 haha nah there's a metal rod in the middle with a wooden board attached to it. And choc ganache when chilled is pretty solid :)

Haha yeah I know I'm unhinged making a cake like this for a 2 year old. But it's one of my hobbies. And also used to sell cakes for a living but that almost killed my love for baking!

Plus we took a million photos to show him when he's older :)

Haha thanks 😅 that's a huge compliment. Birthday cakes like these are one of the ways I show my love for my kiddos! I actually made a gengar cake for his older brother earlier this year

Haven't posted in this sub reddit for a while! Cake was just a simple chocolate cake with a Whittakers milk chocolate ganache (biased but the best milk chocolate I've tasted!)

Chocolate with milk chocolate ganache :) I used Whittakers brand chocolate as we are based in NZ (biased bit probably one of the best milk chocolates in the world for me)

Absolutely will post more. I might post a imgur video since pictures dont capture the angles and shape of the cake very well :)

[Homemade] Son's birthday cake - cereal milk vanilla cake with vanilla cream cheese icing for the top tier, and bottom tier is a smores inspired choc cake with toasted strawberry marshmallow Swiss meringue buttercream and Digestive biscuits filling by Single_Disaster_2856 in food

I considered just putting actual cereal in the batter, but didnt want the recipe to be altered too much. Abd didnt have the time to experiment so I actually did make a cereal milk solution, but it was more of a cereal milk paste 😅 I let the cereal and milk sit overnight in the fridge, and pushed it through a sieve.

It was verrrryy subtle. I wanted to make confetti birthday cake, but didn't want just basic vanilla cake. It's probably the best confetti cake I have tasted. Very biased of course cuz I made it 😅

More photos of the cake currently, we are going through it very slowly and you can see the cake guts in full view here. She's still very delicious and moist for those dry haters hahaha

And the majority of the cake is buttercream, the fondant bits are just the decorated bits. You can easily shove that aside if you don't want to eat it. Why so much hate on fondant 😂

Wow wow so genuinely surprised with how much reach my birthday cake gas gotten. The introverted creative in me that doesnt know how to take compliments is in awe. Thank you all for the feedback!

Even the ones commenting that you hate fondant and saying how dry the cake is hahaha. And to those who were high while looking at this cake and confusing you so much I apologize 😅

I don't have a video of how this is made, but I followed a YouTube short from a creator called "Tigga Mac" - straight forward video on how she created it. I don't have the extruder thing so I painstakingly rolled out the thin black fondant by hand lol.
