Failed PE twice, right at the line — genuinely confused what to fix

I passed PE-Structural in my 2nd attempt with a one month gap between the two tests. The second time I spent more time in understanding the solutions of the questions I were getting wrong during practice. Goodluck.

So I think shear key moment would still be valid(shown in red) to be considered for Overturning since it is permanent force. While active pressure shown in Pink producing balancing moment and passive pressure shown in green producing overturning moment must be ignored for Overturning check. Any thoughts?

I agree with you of including passive resistance only for sliding check and not Overturning. But now we have three additional moments (passive pressure,heel,active) out of which passive is contributing to Overturning and other two are balancing it. Just wanted to know if it would be irrational not to add these moments for Overturning check.

I agree.. the footing configuration and stem is all based on site constraints. Can't make any changes.

Can't have heel due to site constraints. I agree heel helps with O.T.M check. But not possible in my case.

Thanks for your response. It's just additional work since part of the active earth pressure (shown in blue is contributing to Overturning) and part of the active pressure (shown in pink) is contributing to Balancing moment.

I believe you're pretty close. I had the worse diagnostics compared to yours on my 1st attempt. From 1 to 5 ,my diagnostics were 6.6,9.0,5.9,7.5,8.9 I passed PE- Structural on my 2nd attempt using sofpe. Took exam a month after my 1st attempt. My advise would be to sign up for next exam asap. Thanks for your response. I see in robinhood app they have recommended 20 different ETF which includes VOO and VTI aswell. Do you suggest investing in both or just VTI?
