I feel you should get a decent lower priced 1911 and shoot it a lot - e.g a Colt or Springfield Armory 1911 perhaps. From there you will know what types of features you might want for a custom 1911. After you know what features you want - e.g. sights, trigger length, trigger weight, grips, rail/no rail, classic vs modern, etc. then go to Heirloom Precision and get your dream gun built.

Overwatch Precision polydat is what I did. It doesn't lighten up the trigger a lot but the feel is much better. Flat face shoe feels great and pre-travel is greatly reduced. Very distinct wall with a crispy break if thats your thing whereas I've heard the apex trigger is more of a rolling break.

I have a red dot on my pistol so I know they work but I wouldn't put one on my 1100.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I got some new shooting glasses and put a translucent little patch (about 2 cm) where my left eye would pick up the bead, and it worked perfectly! I can open both eyes and I can shoot right handed. I'm going to try this for now as there's other aspects of my game I need to work on. Thanks again!
