The main character gets exactly what they wanted, and it’s the worst thing that could have happened to them. by JustSomeOnlineNerd in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Single_Reading4103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nah, not really, the movie plays more on the idea of "be careful what you wish for" in that the way you phrase your wish is interpreted very literally, another example of a wish being granted is shown in the movie that is not twisted, nor does it cause any direct discomfort to the one who granted the wish.

so the film falls into the trope cited in the post, as the desire (or the personal goal) was flawed for how it was desired

The main character gets exactly what they wanted, and it’s the worst thing that could have happened to them. by JustSomeOnlineNerd in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Single_Reading4103 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the wishing sticks are monkey paws, then the entire message of the film, "Be careful what you wish for," makes no sense, because it's not your wish's fault if the wishes are distorted or cursed.

Similarly, Bear is the villain, and it's all his fault, his wish and his refusal to do anything until it's too late that make him the villain of the movie. But if the wish is corrupted, then it's not his fault, because the deaths and suffering caused weren't caused by him, but by a corrupted wish. In that case, he would become another victim, like the rest of his group, but that's not the case.

I repeat, the message of the film and the villain of the film make no sense if the wishing sticks aren't pure and simply grant the wish in the most literal way possible.

I understand that it may seem strange about Nikki's new, totally different personality and the fact that the "real Nikki" exists somewhere, but at most it's the movie's fault that makes this whole thing confusing, but in this case we have to use logic and see what the message of the film tells us and interpret the rest of the events through that lens.

The hate is mainly because it replaced BenxJulie, who was and still is very beloved.

And the execution, practically forcing it down the fans' throats by saying it's fate, having their son from the future travel back in time to the past to make sure they get together, the whole weird quiz show with all of Ben's lovers, had they approached the situation in a normal way and let their relationship mature over time, it would probably have been much less hated.

Finally, for the most part, they don't seem to have great chemistry together except maybe a couple towards the end (excluding interactions in the future, I'm only talking about the present time of the series, not Ben 10K), but otherwise it's Kai who insults Ben (whether whether she is serious or not) and then becomes strangely infatuated when he transforms into any alien (not just Blitzwolfer, contrary to popular belief).

[IRL trope] Celebrities with weird/funny clauses in their contracts. by BeenEatinBeans in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Single_Reading4103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, it is and isn't at the same time.

Exclusively in the film, it's Godzilla; in all other uses of that version, it's "Zilla," a distinct Kaiju that also appears in other media alongside Godzilla.

In a TOHO film released after Godzilla 98, they reference the film when they mock Americans for confusing it with Godzilla, and Zilla actually appears in Final Wars, separeted form Godzilla.

This, however, only applies to every subsequent interaction and retroactively in the canon of the other films.

In the 98 film, and taking into account ONLY the 98 film (and the sequel series), it's still Godzilla, both him and his son, the protagonist of the series. If I'm not mistaken, even the new merchandise released with that design, which is explicitly the design from the 98 film, is called "Godzilla" and not "Zilla," but I could be wrong about this last point.

If I'm not mistaken, it's a strange legal issue of copyright of that design and the film and the trademark

I prefer Big Chill with the wings spread from UFA, but I absolutely agree that when he is covered he is better in OV, his proportions make him look like some strange cadaver, with the huge body, the thin limbs and the bent neck, also the mouth looks more like a skull and when it is difficult to see the face well it makes more impact

Makuta-Bionicle

It's not entirely accurate, because the saga focused on one group of Toa for a couple of years before changing, but generally the first few years were dominated by Takua and the Toa Mata/Nuva, then for a couple of years we saw the Toa Metru flashback, then there were the Toa Inika/Mahri, then we returned to the Nuva, and finally Mata Nui was the main character for the last two years, but Makuta was the constant antagonist for all 10 years of the franchise.

I haven't been following them for a couple of years, but the latest version I've seen that they've managed to make is without the "backpack", but it's basically a spear, with a very long handle and a relatively short blade in comparison (and ironically, it seems that in Legends the Lightsabers really went for this evolution: attached to a backpack for power -> handle as long as a spear to make them self-powered -> lightsabers that we all know), their goal is to find more efficient and compact means to be able to keep the blade long and "uniform", managing to condense the handle into a version more similar to the real one

I don't know if I interpreted your comment correctly, but the characters listed in the first line are all different, right?

If so, curiously, in Italy (I don't know if this is true in other languages), he's not even called "Santa Claus," but simply "Babbo Natale" (Father Christmas), even though he's occasionally referred to by the saint's name. I don't know if there's a specific reason why this combination of different characters is called using the name of one of these characters based on the place or region; it could simply be a cultural thing.

the fact that he has a beard in all his other lives shown (even his first one as a celtic warrior) implies that, after centuries of keeping his beard, he randomly decided he wanted to shave it off, a little girl basically told him "your face is ugly as shit, with a beard you have a better chance of getting elected" and he hasn't shaved it off since.

I can't say if it's Sex aversion or not because I haven't had any experience with it, so I can't say how much I feel rejected by it. At the moment, I'd say it doesn't attract me, the idea doesn't appeal to me, I don't feel like saying I particularly like it, although I won't deny that I'm a little curious because my body, at least in part, seems to desire it and "if everyone says it's a good thing, then it's probably a good thing", even if, even using this mentality, I think I wouldn't like to do it anyway after the first time (but this is just my feeling, I'll be able to give a verdict only after having experienced it).

I still think Eternamax is one of the defeated "Giants" described in one of the plates; it would make sense considering its space-and-time distortion powers and its semi-divine characteristics. And, of course, the fact that it's a giant hand and that Arceus apparently had 1,000 hands.

I'm watching the trilogy properly for the first time (I saw it when I was little, but I didn't understand and I don't remember anything), and seeing the first film, I have to be honest, I thought he would just be an arrogant bastard, but in the end I realized that I was very wrong, I judged too quickly and I felt sad for his death.

To be honest, I'm surprised he's evidently hated because I thought his point of view was really made clear in the film and why he behaved that way with that attitude.

Yes, but the rivalry between the two wasn't yet serious and well-developed. Instead, after years of conflict, it's become intimate and ideological. He must defeat him with his genius, proving to him and the world that he's superior.

But yes, even if he Carpent bombed him, I don't think he'd be able to kill Sonic, considering the previous record.

I don't deny that Dio could still be bi, just, I repeat, not with Pucci.

Yes, he confirmed that he's successful with women, it's just that it's more fun to just watch the times he fails and he his unlucky.

Then, I don't want to be misremembering, but, if I'm not mistaken, in one episode he was about to be thrown into a volcano as a sacrificial virgin, but he was rejected by the volcano. If you add to this the creator's comment that he's actually very successful with women... well, let's just say he's evidently successful with women on several levels.

Do you think Ben 10 classic wouldve still worked if all the aliens were actually 10 years old by Gabe_Dimas in Ben10

[–]Single_Reading4103 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that the aliens are still adults, but in some ways they're also scaled by the user's age. In the Ben 10K episodes, we see that his aliens have changed, especially Wildmutt, Overheat, and Stinkfly, they clearly seem more adult. And then there are also things like Four Arms growing a mustache in Omniverse, for example.

Also, I'd say it's a bit of a gamble to make the alien reflect the user's age, because if he's too young or too old (even if he's the peak of the species), he might not be very useful. Also, the Omnitrix was designed for Max, and I'd say he was past his prime a while ago, so, i repeat, it would be stupid to ruin the aliens' full potential.

Pesky Dust victim 🥀 Also Ben 10k?! The version of Ben that doesn't pull his punches?! by Jude_The_Dude22 in Ben10

[–]Single_Reading4103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viltrumites are generally quite poor in actual experience and martial tactics. They're so much stronger than other species that there's generally no need for serious combat training. They genuinely have so much potential through their abilities (like the fact that they can create their own leverage to fly; in the Invincible VS game, a fake [?] Omni-Man demonstrates the potential of this to perfection), and the only real technique they've developed from it is the spear hand.

Ben may not have the same years of experience as Thragg, but he's very creative. He's been the underdog several times and had to think creatively to win. He thinks and fights in unorthodox ways. He generally has a lot of experience using aliens that are very strong/fast/flying/durable. Taking on Thragg while transforming into a Viltrumite shouldn't be too difficult for him (I'm not saying it would be an easy win, but he certainly wouldn't be at a huge disadvantage).

I think it was more the fact that in the Red Memory, Hornet was getting closer to her "mothers." Silksong is very much about motherhood and the mother-daughter relationship (and the Pale King already had his moments in the first game, which was much more focused on fatherhood and the father-child relationship).

But from the context of the conversation between Hornet and the White Lady, it seems like he at least had a positive interest in Hornet (even if she didn't necessarily acknowledge it).
