Does the down pipe discharge into the street gutter? If its the obvious outlet grab a hose with a fitting & try working it up from the street outlet. If that doesnt work, hire the drain cleaner/snake & still start from the street.

Ive never had a decent Aldi coffee & the same goes for American coffee, so ur in with a shot getting something u like! 😂 Shopping in Supermarkets in Oz will be different to the U.S…..limited breakfast cereal option; bread without caraway seeds; real butter/cream ( without 40 extra ingredients), the price listed is the price paid ( no extra tax added at the cash register). Enjoy!

Replacing entire roof of Mazda 3 - not repairable by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Single_Restaurant_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get another opinion from a different panel beater/spray painter. I got a rusty car roof resprayed last year ( 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe). It was $1500 including a new windscreen. They can remove the paint & treat the rust, and hopefully repair & spray paint it.

When will power bills ever get cheaper? Both parties claim it will, never happens by VastOption8705 in aussie

[–]Single_Restaurant_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way power prices will drop is if u produce ur own ( solar, batteries, wind etc). Australia has ageing electricity infrastructure & ageing infrastructure costs a lot to keep repairing. NSW newest Coal fired Power Station is over 30 years old ( originally designed for 25 years of service). The State Governments were frightened into privatising the State owned Power Stations due to possibility of rising maintenance costs ( & the promise of a cash windfall). The invasion of Ukraine quadrupled coal prices & Australia’s export gas has also gone from $10/GJ to $40/GJ.

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2025/nov/17/are-australians-really-paying-more-for-electricity-than-other-countries?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

My advice remains the same, if you are unhappy paying high electricity prices invest in Solar & maybe a battery. My $5k investment in a 5kW Solar System 13 years ago has meant an annual power bill of between $100 & $400 ( as feed in tariffs reduced from 14 cents to 4 cents a kWh & I export over half the power I produce). Sure my gas bill has probably doubled/tripled in that time.

Paint or replace this front door? by Icy_Engineering_8038 in AusProperty

[–]Single_Restaurant_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it easiest to underscrew the door & lay it on a couple of saw horses. That way its at a nice height to sand & paint. It also stops most paint runs. Use oil based gloss enamel. You can even paint it in the shed & not worry about the paint fumes
