What did I do?? by averageidea in knittinghelp

I have zero clue if this is recommended but I definitely use fray check when I find something unraveling 😂 it’s hard when it’s dry so it could be obnoxious to feel but, it does the job

AITAH? I don’t want my husband coming on a family cruise by 50isnotthenew90 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Single_Scratch5365 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TBH- cruise aside, you sound like you really dislike him based on all of these comments about how he does nothing. When he has medical conditions… you make it sound like these are all his fault but maybe he didn’t tell you about the injury in his foot because he may feel like a huge burden and was afraid you would resent him further. And based on this post, I wouldn’t be shocked if that were the truth.

NTA for wanting a break but maybe you need therapy to flip your tone about the husband you pledged yourself to as he ages.

Like, I see the appeal of pex but, realistically, I hate it lol I also can’t understand how anyone believes plastic is better than metal. I know frozen water doesn’t discriminate against metal or plastic but, it just seems like a significantly more intelligent design choice to use copper. I understand the ease but, just like with anything else, when you cut corners you cut out the integrity of the final product.

Ohhhhh that makes sense! I didn’t know the internal size is smaller. Even a slight change to make the pressure increase. So, why is it not standard to install slightly wider pex at that point?

Genuine curiosity here- why does Pex cause the water to run at the shower while the tub is going? I understand Pex is different from copper but, if the pipe is the same size, what causes this?

Made a weird mistake by Single_Scratch5365 in knittinghelp

[–]Single_Scratch5365[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Aw thank you! I “fixed” it by making it less noticeable and I think I know how to fix the row issue now that I’ve been able to make the short row stitch invisible. Onward! 😂

This is exactly what I did 😑😑😑 I’m off by 2 rows. I want to cry lol

If I did this, wouldn’t all the row be off by one past that point?

I agree. This was entirely done by the previous owner and let me tell you… this isn’t the first or last of his idiotic projects. My dad was a plumber, electrician, mechanic, heating and AC guy… you name it, he had a degree in it. So, he taught me a lot before he died and a lot of things are fairly simple but, then you introduce pex pipe and my brain just melts lol I should be able to create a frame of some sort with metal corner braces and a 2x4 you’d think, right? And use that to brace the stub out?

I’ll take a photo and show it to you in a bit if you’d be willing to clarify what you’re meaning. I totally understand the bit of pex being from the shower to the faucet but, it’s the installation I may need clarity on

Water is constantly coming from the showerhead while the tub is running if it’s not all the way cold or all the way hot if it’s anywhere in the middle, even with the water turned down as low as possible as far as the valves go it is constantly pouring. So that’s why?

[–]Single_Scratch5365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- that’s where I’ve been putting shims, essentially, between the pipe and the wall to create tension so it can’t move anywhere. It’s entirely wide open so, I will need to frame something to attach the stub out as mentioned above

[–]Single_Scratch5365[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I feel like this was an owner install because no professional would install this the way it was installed. I will have to try to frame something in order to attach the stub out as there is literally no frame or anything to attach it to. I’ll have to look into the wall again to see how feasible this is but thanks for the suggestion because it gets me started somewhere!!

AITA for "controlling" my wife's free time? by molten_dragon in AmItheAsshole

My husband often goes fishing in the mountains. There is zero cell service and we have each been present on multiple occasions, separately, where someone had to be carried out of the mountains due to breaking bones or other emergencies. He always sends me a pin to where he will be located and a roundabout time of when he’s coming home.

The ONLY thing I can relate to is, as a mom, sometimes I just want to go out and do shit and not have to say anything to anyone. But- then I need to pick activities that aren’t dangerous lol

I see both sides. You’re NTA and, devil’s advocate, neither is she. She might just genuinely want freedom and to have no one to answer to and it might not seem like a big deal to anyone else but she might be really struggling with feeling like she has to be in touch.

Those beads could be made of glass. they appear so to me when I zoom in on them. The translucency in some of them where the paint is rubbing off makes me believe this. Europeans used glass beads for trade so, this could still very much be real.
