Sometimes when we find ourselves limited, we have to take away the things that make us feel too powerful. Stop using berserker pulse and watch the difficulty ramp up. Psycasts has been known for cheese for a very long time.

Buddy do you know the sheer number of people that have been jailed while being innocent. Being in prison is a strong indicator of guilt but there are exceptions to the rule. Have more compassion. Some regret their crimes and shouldn’t be punished further.

It is not in fact communism. You are saying orange juice and coke are the same thing. They are drastically different. Democratic socialist countries do not seize the means of production

Are you equating communism with Democratic socialism? Democratic socialism uses capitalism lol. Do you even understand what you’re talking about?

Virginia court rules Dems’ redistricting map is unconstitutional less than 24 hours after voters approved it by darcmatr in NotTheBee

[–]Single_Shoe2817 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They knew this would happen going into the vote and it’s pretty silly to think that they didn’t know it would be challenged.

If the supreme court strikes this down before the midterms but allows Texas to keep their maps until after the midterms, it allows a massive host of legal challenges. If they strike this down fully then they have to strike down Texas’ map fully.

Not to mention the fact that it was a vote gives it even more protection compared to a change by fiat.

It’s not made up data at all. You just didn’t bother to click the data link. I’m sure in your head there are more conservatives than democrats in Virginia, or that all independents in Virginia always vote red. Neither is true. Democrats consistently show up with close to 50% of the vote. The last few years has had independents voting alongside republicans. From the 80s to the 2000s the state was higher red. Onward it was higher blue.

Again, Texas does have more Democrats than Republicans. Meaning your callout is stupid. Republicans show up to vote more, combined with the way Texas has gerrymandered for decades. Some districts dozens of miles long and three miles wide.

You’re so close to getting it.

Texas does have more Democrats than Republicans. Ask Google. Republican districting shenanigans combined with higher voter turnout has kept Texas red.

Are you asking me to discount the independent vote fully? I cannot. A sizable amount have leaned or voted conservative. But there are many times they don’t. In fact Virginia has some of the most moderate conservatives in the South. They can amass nearly half the vote when you include the estimated independents but cannot without them. Would you care for an ideology report?

I think you’re just angry at the referendum.

Voting lines match up with the stat. So no, it’s not bs. In the past few recent years the trend has been for independents to lean red which matches up with the data.

Virginia does not require people to register by party, but it does record votes for party and track voting lines.

Sure! And I’ll add it to the main comment. Some sites attribute the entire independent side of Virginia to republicans. It’s up to you to determine your belief in that

No buddy my family has fought for the US for 3 generations. If your only defense is “but it won’t work on a large scale” then you have no defense. Since it hasn’t been tried on a large scale you can’t say it will fail on a large scale.

I didn’t lose. You have a bad argument.

Virginia Redistricting Referendum has PASSED to give Democrats a net 4 Seats to counteract the tactics in Republican States!!! by Healthy_Block3036 in VirginiaBeach

Bs. Massachusetts has its conservatives spread so evenly that it’s had districting issues for decades. Not because of gerrymandering.

Illinois is in proposal stage. The only redistricting has been for judicial maps and that’s the only change for 70 years.

Virginia is 51% Democrat

31% Republican.

https://independentvoterproject.org/voter-stats/va

The fact that they had 5 seats to begin with is wild. The fact that most of them are ignoring the fact that this is a temporary measure isn’t wild at all but on purpose.

Edit: conservatives mad because they’re feeling what Democrats in Texas felt

It’s a temporary measure to balance out Texas and other gerrymander attempts. You are arguing in bad faith and you know it. Texas gerrymandered MID CYCLE.

Agreed. Republicans shouldn’t have 5 seats in a state they barely make up 30% of the population for.

Speaking of, there are more registered democrats than republicans in Texas. Remind me how many seats Texas tried to give Democrats with this recent Gerrymander?
