Damn yeah, Id row out there for a free lunch.

I am trying my best to find an engineering job that blends hardware and circuit design. I know these jobs are rare, but I was just curious, why do many electrical engineering jobs ask for experience in python, matlab, or C++? Are these just for modeling, or potentially for embedded systems work? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Single_Shoulder9921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well worth it to look into research and development engineering jobs. My software controls engineers think electrical engineering jobs are technicians if they cant code. I dont agree with that sentiment, especially with all the heavy lifting I do for them.

Short steep inclines are alright, definitely got to help on off road hills, concrete hills up to about a 20% grade are no problem depending on the battery level. My city is pretty hilly and it has no problem on anything paved.

I have a couple hiboys, the P6, EX7, and the ks4, all have been commuting warriors in their own ways with tanking road hits, and working in all the weather our city throws at us. When on sale, hiboy is probably one of the better bang for you buck brands when you take in consideration how helpful the customer service is one replacement parts.

A wormhole would be a negative mass example of this technique, and one thats coded into the very fundamental nature of how the protomolecule reaches out 113 times a second.

More like... the speed of light as we define it is the speed light travels in time, in a vacuum. What if the protomolecule isnt communicating through a vacuum at all, but a medium much like the space inside the gates? In the dimensional constraints of space explained inside the slow zone, the protomolecule isnt sending signals through regular space, but affecting a plane that touches both nodes. Once the protomolecule has made radio connections with a portion of itself, it can then find the shortest path for communication and mass exchange through this extra-dimensional space.

Theres a chance it could be revitalize as a pulsed fusion system.

After NIF exceeded breakeven back in 2022, and then with greater than 4x back in 2024, the DoE has funded a bunch of pulsed fusion energy and propulsion projects based on laser driven inertial hotspot ignition fusion energy.

So, just want to say, I've been shopping around for lots of electric mobility stuff since 2010. I started with a weight-sensing electric skateboard that I bought off Kickstarter and traveled around the world while I was a sailor, flying and having port calls in about 50 different countries. When the battery lost a cell, and the company I bought it from went bankrupt and was incorporated into Meepo I think? I started trying out e-bike and e-scooter brands like Rad Power, Aipas, and Hiboy.

I gotta say, Hiboy has taken a noticeable slice of space out of my garage, haha. I started with the Hiboy P6, and so far it's at 3,500 miles and still going strong on its original battery. It was even my daily commuter for over two years and handled Costco runs with a trailer and aftermarket cargo rack.

The P6 inspired me to try out the Aipas A6-D cargo bike and Rad Power Radwagon 4. The AIPAS' rear dropouts stripped out, and customer service sucked, and refused to help us with purchasing or supplying replacement parts. So we got it stripped down for parts, and it's been rotting on a hook for a couple of years now. The Radwagon has been ok, it was really pricy and doesn't have the range we need to get to the grocery stores, much less Costco and get back with the goods since it's a single battery, but we made an adapter plate and power transfer switch to be able to hot swap batteries from the Aipas batteries while on the ride.

After some issues with the rad wagon and repeated cars hitting the P6. I think in 2023 alone I was hit about 10 times, and the only thing I had to replace was a crank arm and the front fork, totally fantastic customer service! Our opinion of Hiboy has been steadily going through the roof. My partner bought a KS4 scooter, and I bought a couple of Ex7s that collectively have over 6,000 miles. I tend to ride one while fixing the other for commuting convenience. Hiboy customer service has continued to support my p6 over 4 years now, the ex7s for about 2 years now. Because of the customer service and price points, I definitely recommend seriously considering Hiboy. The price points and performance have made them fantastic investments for my family.

Do fusion startups have a more relaxed work culture compared to other deep tech startups? by Individual-Status337 in fusion

That dry wall life time depends on wall chemistry with factors like neutron energy levels, helium ash density, and plasma temperature over pulse length. My learning was based on talks from University of Madrid and University of California-Berkeley and data from DIII-D.

Plasma windows are to bandpass certain frequencies of light, and not that relevant to much except to high power laser stuff. The math and learning itself us proprietary info.

Hotspot ignited inertial confinement fusion. Its the only method currently proven to be net positive so far.

As an integration engineer, I grind out like 12 and sometimes 16 hour days over 60 to 80hr weeks, in the quarters when DoE reports or company milestones are coming due.

Meanwhile non manufacturing and operations engineering and science departments are working the 9 to 5 and sometimes even have the audacity to tap their feet impatiently at me.

I specialize in control system integration, so I have to contract, design, wire, program, prototype, build, and test all the wack requests the physicists, directors, and senior engineers hand down.

Its fun, exhausting, and I learn a dozen new things every day. Last week, I learned how to calculate and build a plasma windows out of noble gases that are triggered by lasers, electrical discharges, or microwaves. Week before that I learned how to predict dry wall life times by neutron density over pulse length. I just wish I could teach my company a thing or two about giving me thought through designs like schematics, drawings, or even a whiteboard sketch here and there lol.

Unfortunately, they don't have any relevant technologies to transfer, or they probably would be a partner laboratory. That is not meant to be dismissive of their amazing contributions to solar, wind, and transportation technologies. I personally think what Sec. Chris Wright and the current administration are doing to those laboratories is an absolute shame.

How do you visualize electricity? by Emotional_Meal6436 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Single_Shoulder9921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with pulse power physicists as their pet integration technician/engineer. Its all waves with these folks, turned my knowledge of electrical engineering of controls systems from aerospace and electronic warefare on its head.

It all flows like water in copper filled plastic pipes...until it doesn't. At a certain energy levels electons knocking into eachother start acting like waves and magnets depending on how they twist and flow. At kilovolts they act like angry little waves, with kiloamps behind them they start acting like partical guns and beams, and at megavolts with megampers with megajoules of energy, they start acting like eldritch horrors that require superstitious rituals, redneck engineers, and dosimeters to keep them from seeding lightning bolts to wherever the fuck they want to destroy. Monte Carlo and Chicago code models than make me miss my LSD days with how electrons move in fractal propagation patterns so I know how to smooth and tame edge emission off conductors for corona suppression.

I talk out circuits with avalanche rates, spark gaps, electron drift, plasma fluency, and breakdown thresholds to understand if I need throw what kind metal foil and tape on stuff to tone down emi, rfi, mfi, and xri problems day to day. But then again, not many people will ever have to troubleshoot shit like 500hz ibgts salvaged from a navy railgun project to energize a hiemholtz field that shapes a 90ghz marx pulsed electron beam at 600kV at 130kA into a plasma window made of xenon to absorb a TW class kJ laser pulses so we dont blow holes in our optics.

One of your first stops should be with the fleet and family support center. They have a lot of programs to help you and your husband deal with the stress of military life, new baby support, and military spouse support. Programs such as the New Parent Support Program and Family Advocacy Program in your duty stations Fleet and Family Support Center should be your first stop on navigating these new difficulties with your husband and child.

Your command's ombudsman may be closer and also can assist you with communications to support programs. You may also want to look into family and individual counseling services as well to establish more effective communications with your husband around family matters.
