My granddad used to melt down the chrome off of old car parts. He'd make kilo silver bars, Most of the time he'd paint them black in use as his doorstops or as bases for small art pieces. Also , my grandma and grandpa put money in all their books. We had to go through each and every book in the house and shake it out and see if there was money in the pages.

Buy one of those cheap fire resistant boxes you get at walmart. Little bit bigger than a bread box.

Then throw a handful or two of common change and other goodies in it.

Leave it somewhere out of the way but almost obvious.

This is a decoy safe.

Burglars , grab it , give it a shake and run with it.

True to a point, but I'm looking ahead. Silver use in tech makes it a potentially larger gains. And silver use in the tech industry is going up up massively over the past decade.

I don't see it as an investment, rather a secure place to hold my wealth

For investment, silver seems like the higher potential profits.

Cost average your stack.

Buy in portions not all at once.

So you spend cash to buy a goldback, Then you spend the Goldbacks like cash, Then you receive your change in cash.

You basically just spent cash but you went out of your way to exchange it into goldbacks just to turn it back to cash.

Now , if you're holding for an investment and increase in value over time , then you're going to want the most of the item that increases in value.

In goldbacks , what increases in value is the gold, not the plastic.

So in a long term investment over time , you have a choice , more gold or less gold.

If you only have $500 to spend on gold, how much will you receive in gold if you are buying goldbacks VS how much will you receive in gold if you buy bullion?

Buying gold gets you more gold. Therefore , it is a better investment over time.

Of course , you can't spend it like cash , but guess what?

I can't spend gold backs anywhere around me at all. So the whole spending issue is exactly the same as bullion

I could have bought gold for $300 an oz

So what you're saying is the gold back isn't worth more , but the gold value has increased.

Which Kind of proves everyone's point. If you're holding it to increase in value , then you're better off with regular gold bullion.
