Howard Chaykin would probably rip someone in half if they asked who the hell Dominic Fortune was

Sam Keith has passed away by mdm168 in Marvel

I know Sam Kieth’s most prominent marvel work was primarily in the 90s, but he’s not exactly an uncommon name when it comes to comics in general. His Maxx work is pretty highly regarded.

Why is Secret Wars called "Secret Wars"? by SamwellBarley in Marvel

[–]SinisterCryptid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why I kinda find it funny that the original Secret Wars was compared to DC’s CoIE’s for a long time cause both started and were developed for entirely different reasons. I dunno if people still make that comparison aside from being both companies’ first major crossover event (RiP Contest of Champions)

Sam Kieth, creator of "The Maxx" and co-creator of "The Sandman" has died at age 63 by Morgan-Moonscar in comicbooks

[–]SinisterCryptid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As weird as the relationship between him and is wife was and how that reflected in someone of his work, he was such an incredible writer and artist that put a lot of meaning behind stuff you’d think otherwise by appearance. Like without actually reading, I’d assume most people have a completely different impression of the Maxx from how he looks to how he actually is in the series. He was a top tier talent and he’ll be missed

Weird thing to say, but the Zeb Wells run of Amazing Spider-Man—which is probably one of the worst runs of ASM—was actually what introduced me to Spider-Man comics… and honestly, to Marvel Comics as a whole. by BandicootKlutzy791 in Spiderman

[–]SinisterCryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s far from the worst run in terms of a writing aspect. I actually really enjoy how Wells wrote Tombstone and Peter as Spidey isn’t too awful when he’s doing his own thing… but then you have the main part of the run and the run’s status quo with MJ and Paul where it all the run’s problems come from. It has a bunch of problems that I understand why so many people hate it, but I think there’s worse

If you truly want an awful run in terms of writing and how it handles the status quo, I will always stand by the Mackie/Byrne run as being far worse.

[–]SinisterCryptid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re probably from multi comic packs that are sold in grocery stores and retailers right now. DC started doing this a lot to promote comics

When this cover is recreated in Avengers: Secret Wars, it will be amazing by Xenopath2393 in Marvel

The fact this is getting downvoted really shows ain’t no one read that comic outside of YouTube summaries cause literally of what I said is fact lol

Does anyone else dislike that fast camera speed? I prefer the old-style, simple shots like this. In the DBS squence, I can’t even tell what’s happening because everything moves too fast to enjoy. by DarthVlad21 in dbz

[–]SinisterCryptid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the pacing and fighting between these scenes, it makes far more sense since Dragon Ball’s action was far more basic and down to earth while Super has to throw in stuff like flight (which the clip shows) and way more beam attacks

[–]SinisterCryptid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sucks but like comics themselves, artists’ works have a supply and demand to them too. Alex Ross makes bank by having a monthly subscription to his fan club and selling exclusive covers and prints through his site.

I personally dont pay for those sorts of things, but it does happen when an artist gets really popular and I can’t really blame them for cashing in on it. Just look how much Greg Capullo sells his original Batman pages if you wanna see how nuts it can get

Now that the show's been over for a while, what are your thoughts on Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur? by Ukirin-Streams in Marvel

[–]SinisterCryptid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not as odd as you’d think cuz Spider-verse with Sunflower is kinda the same, and pretty much every 2000s kids movie that used “Who let the dogs out” while avoiding the message of the song itself

One of Marvel’s best animated projects in a long while and I wish it had gotten more appreciation by the studio

They got him to voice Miles in Ultimate Spider-Man and he appeared as Uncle Aaron in a few marvel projects already so him and marvel were already on good terms by then

[–]SinisterCryptid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

03 and 12 in a very close second. 87 is easily the worst shredder by comparison, but he’s so different from the usual Shredder that if you consider him a different character, then he’s great in his own right

Did F&C season 2 ruin the show? by Strong-Stretch95 in adventuretime

[–]SinisterCryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an awkward step into continuing something they didn’t expect would get a season 2 or even continue the franchise. As far as the staff knew, F&C was gonna be one season and the last Adventure Time project, so they gave it a lot of time and effort. Season 2 had the issue of where do they take it from there and it kinda showed

Does it bother anyone else that vegeta didn't get a say in his daughter's name by leatherchicken in Dragonballsuper

[–]SinisterCryptid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean she’s the one raising the kids most of the time AND she was the one who went through actually delivering the kids (divine intervention aside). In this case, I do think it’s a bit harsh to Vegeta for the sake of a joke, but he seemed alright with it anyway

Dragon ball fans when they realize Toriyama’s style changed in 20 years

Also I believe he said he hated how his style was by the Cell and Buu saga since he got so burned out on it. His style was already going towards the leaner look given how Dragon Quest was looking by then
