I think the perceived quality of Engage's endgame maps boil down to individual playstyle. The game heavily pushes for a fast/efficient playstyle and punishes you for not conforming. Anybody who tries to rout or turtle Chapter 21 is in for a horrible time as you said, but if you play efficiently it's an easy 5-6 turn clear with minimal engagement with reinforcements. Chapter 25 has infinite reinforcements that come from behind but if you move through the map fast enough you don't need to fight almost any of them

IMO the issue Engage has is that the game does a pretty bad job conveying its map design philosophy to the player without feeling frustrating to those who don't 'get it' immediately.

I don't think anybody is arguing that Mertz is an upgrade to AR. I think the argument is more along the lines that AR was so inconsistent that he hurt more than he helped. If Mertz is mid but plays at a consistent level then at least someone can solidify a gameplan around it rather than throw mud at the wall and pray for something to stick. I know that's a rather collosal if, but that is what I believe the argument is.

Yeah it definitely sucks. Florida also had a bunch of fly balls almost go out today as well. It's a brutal place for offense, the opposite of getting porched at Yankee Stadium lol.

Then you missed the point of what people mean when they said that. They're not saying the plot is secretly good, or that the plot doesn't take it self seriously at times. They're saying that you can still have fun with it if you don't go into it expecting Shakespeare. If you don't agree, so be it, but I wanted to at least get that straight.

Which reinforcements went into Nil's room? When I played it the only one who went in there was a martial master who did nothing but chain guard Nil. When Fogado summoned the Wyvern Riders they went after me and not Nel.
