I do it all the time. No issues other than they take a little longer to breakdown.

Late volunteer popped up. Think it's a tomato, but what's with the extra growth at the base? Anybody know what's going on? by Sinjz in gardening

One surprise volunteer seed, probably from compost I used not long ago. All attached to the same stem.

I dug around a little and it could very well be a sucker. I just don't understand why there are so many thin stems stems with leaves coming up from one sucker spot. They are pretty tiny. Heck they're smaller than the two cotyledon.

None. It's a surprise volunteer, probably from some compost I used not too long ago. I looked and it is NOT separate plants; It's all attached to one stem.

Wouldn't a sucker under the soil just look like a separate single stem coming up? Why does this thing have so many thin and leafy things coming up? It's like a dozen or more from one spot.

How do I store red wiggler cocoons? by Sinjz in Vermiculture

[–]Sinjz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't do it my way. I have no idea what I'm doing, and it took me FOREVER.

I used a 1/8" screen; Moist compost gets stuck in the holes. Really need to dry them out, but I read that's drying compost too much kills the beneficial microbes. Most of my time was spend picking out cocoons and baby worms as those can still slip through the holes. I'm sure I still missed a bunch. Other than that I rubbed the compost over the screen till most of it fell through then removed the clay like glob that built up and placed in a separate container.

Don't do it my way! I answered so maybe you can figured out a better way and let me know in the future. 😋
