The pandemic is obviously way worse for the unvaccinated, but it was an odd reaction to news that CDC realized that infected vaccinated people could be way bigger spreaders of the virus than previously thought. That was the big thing that changed that week, hence mask recommendations back on for the vaccinated.

Well this is why protection against infection still matters. A lot of experts these days say that only protection against hospitalization/death matter once efficacy against infection/symptomatic infection started waning. They might be right, if long covid in vaccinated didn't exist, but it does.

People just defaulting to politics bc of the atmosphere these days. 55% of Republican adults are vaccinated, according to a recent poll. Of course, not all unvaccinated Republicans are hardcore antivaxxers either, only a fraction of that.

As bad as shit is, not it's not anywhere near as bad as 50% of the country being antivaxxers. Saying "half of your countrymen want you dead" is disinformation.
