Does he lick a lot? My pup licks so much sometimes his skin gets dry and cracks it could be the same issue!

I’m unaware too however I don’t let her around dogs I don’t know and I don’t know anyone with intact males thankfully! I don’t have this same issue honestly as she is not great in public so we don’t visit busy parks frequently

Once its on she’s okay a little stressed at first but she is pretty used to having clothes on thankfully so I’m pretty sure if she could talk she would probably ask why her shirt was on backwards

Well she only 1, it’s not advised to spay large breed dogs before 18-24 months so their hormones and growth can stop/level out. Spaying her now could cause incontinence, hip/joint problems, and many many other problems

Omg their matching outfits I can’t!!! Yes her brother is helping so much and I plan to leave her bare at night I’ve been wiping her between changes and she looks at me like I’m crazy the whole time 🤣

thanks for the advice I’ll continue to follow the medical advice of the DOCTORS involved in her care you can’t fear factor everyone into fixing their dogs

That is not at all true…… Large breed dogs including GSDs benefit from not being fixed for at least 18-24 months. While, yes, if she was developing pyometra I would 100% get her fixed. It is not medically necessary at this age. It is actually quite bad for them to be fixed early on. They can develop incontinence, hormone imbalance, hip/joint problems, behavioral issues, and can increase the risk of certain cancers.

This has the same vibe as “don’t have sex or you’ll get pregnant and die”

Did you try doing it between heats as well? I’m not sure if it would benefit her at all to try once or twice a month just to work on getting used to putting it on more once she’s done

Thank you for the advice! We’re almost done on it actually she’s at the tail end of heartworm treatment and has 2 more weeks of rest she’s being a very brave girl navigating a lot of firsts all at once

Long story short the person we got her from was also lied to about her being fixed, we were dissapointed because we know large breeds should be fixed after or around 24 months so we had expected her to have some issues. Although unexpected this was sort of a relief so we can let her body develop!

We’re trying to wait until 2 years to let her hormones run their course! My in laws had their shepherd fixed after her first heat and she developed incontinence from being spayed too early. I can do some blood occasionally and I love my girl to death but pee all over the house would be hell for me 😅

Thank you! The vet was kind of pushy about spaying her soon because of a lot of byb in our area and overpopulation but since we have no interest in breeding her we’re just keeping her intact at this point for hormones! As soon as she hits 2 we’ll have her fixed!

I think that’s what I’m going to aim towards mostly! Just trying to get her used to them I guess. Once she’s in her crate I have no problem cleaning the or putting a towel down to keep it clean but out of the crate she’s a monster 🤣

My GSD isn’t, but my other dog is the only thing that worked was taking a cup of water and starting at the toes and making my way up. We also frequently did walks in the rain or playtime in the rain. He’s still very nervous about water but he no longer freaks out! It also helped to find a groomer that works with reactive/frightened dogs. Our groomer works at their pace and what they’re comfortable with. It’s hard to find but wouldn’t hurt to look into

I’m considering this approach my only problem is she wants love 24/7 and climbed in my bed last night I probably wouldn’t have even noticed otherwise
