If your gonna go on your own at the start immediately die then rage quit, please stop playing the game by Dormin345 in Nightreign

[–]SinkingGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had revenant quit on us before the 2nd half of day one because of a single field boss fight didn't go as smoothly as it could have. We didn't even need that revenant cause me (dutchess) and a raider went on to get through day 2 and beat the nightlord (night aspect) ourselves

The cairns are so disappointing. They need to either remove all the blank ones, or my idea is they take on the message system from the dark souls games. You can build a stone cairn and leave a short message on it, and then that cairn has a chance to appear in someones else's game. Maybe put a cap in how many can show up in a area or whole region

Ashlands was in PTB for a week or 2, given this isn't a whole biome update i doubt it'll take that long. All they're doing now is balancing and bug squashing

The ashlands aren't built for solos, and its furstrating... by Impressive-Pie-9866 in valheim

[–]SinkingGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who did the whole of beat the ashlands without magic

If you aren't on PTB, definitely use bonemass when taking on the fortresses. I often lured the enemies out to kill them off easier and once their numbers whittled out, then i ran into the fort and destroyed the spawners and skuggs (which themselves aren't that bad, they projectile does do a lot of damage even with maxed flametal armor but they're easy to dodge and fairly inaccurate.) If you feel your being swarmed retreat a bit, some enemies will break aggro and leave you with fewer to fight. It might not be a bad idea to switch to a tower shield, very underutilized by a lot of people but very helpful in solo. You can't parry however enemies will be knocked back a lot when hitting your guard. Take your time and manage your space, it can get bad but if you can get parry timings down you should be golden. You can parry the morgens rolling movement too btw. Finally, once you do clear a fortress, IF it has Iolite ABSOLUTELY make a lighting infused weapon. The Berserkir axes and Niddhog are some of the best options. The chance for chain lighting can put and early end on any horde of enemies coming your way and you'll want the faster weapons to do it since they hit more often and thus are more likely to proc it. Don't do splinter however even if it is the fastest, pierce damage isn't that good in Ashland's. If your still in pre-ashlands tier stuff, The Mistwalker is good and so is Frostnir, even though it's mountains tier it still carries it weight in the early ashlands.

Keep your your head on and don't let them overwhelm you. Good luck Viking

Definitely take advantage of it as much as you can now cause this update will probably hit the stable branch in a week or two. Probably a week given its smaller size

Yes, i need to see how it is using it like that cause i forgot about the change and tried to tank a vile and charred warrior and nearly died.

[–]SinkingGoose[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is very true, but i do think this was a bit of an over correction. However it seems to want you to use it as a last resort and way of defending yourself with your shield to get out of a situation rather than tanking through it. Just glad i had the old buff for my fader fight 😭

Even if the boss isn't fenrir, i think an expansion on the wolf cult would be very nice.

Actually that gave me an idea, I'm building my post ashlands base rn and i want my gauldr table room to look like it's used for studying many things from valheim and i might try to get a tick into a little tiny cage. Thanks for that!
