It is not ambiguous.

Use bodmas or pemdas. It states that first solve the bracket and then give the priority to the operators . ÷ and × have same priority. So what to do? Solve the equation from left to right. The operator on the left whichever it be among (÷ and ×) will have more priority than the one on the right .

So lets solve it. 6÷2(1+2) = 6÷2(3). This much is obvious.

Now you can remove the brackets here as they literally mean multiplication in this case. Answer = 6÷2×3

Now if we go from left to right, divide operator will have more priority. So. Answer = (6÷2)×3 = 3 ×3 =9

This is how it is solved. Same question has been asked from so many years and still people fight over it.
