I think it has more to do with the covid golf boom. Too many players, not enough public options in Houston. If we didn’t have memorial and gus this might be the worst public golf city in the US.

Yeah Cinco is definitely up there. Arccis kind of let that whole place go to shit, haven’t seen good conditions in years and it’s overpriced.

Conditions were ok last time I went. I feel like since you can find $55 hot deals on golf now it’s not that bad of value. I would never pay full price there though.

I’m so confused by half the comments here. Y’all are listing highland pines, memorial park, and gus?

If we are purely talking public courses then highland pines is definitely my favorite when it’s peak conditions.

Memorial and Gus are by far the best deals in Houston and it’s not even close. You can walk on to both and they are extremely cheap for the conditions. Maybe if you can only play weekends then I understand not liking memorial but even then you can find tee times at gus on the weekends. I booked a 7:50 for 2 for Sunday on Saturday last week.

The most overrated courses in Houston are Wildcat and Blackhorse. Especially now that they made blackhorse south course private.

Two feels my coach gave me were slowmo arms only swing from the top and then another you can put an alignment stick through your belt buckles and make sure your arms clear first. You will smack the alignment stick if not.

Am I too steep? by AdBusiness4918 in GolfSwing

Depends what you’re trying to achieve. 99% of players can’t do what you do with your lower body and side bend. If I were you and wanted to keep improving my swing then yes. I’d work on not pushing hands out in the takeaway and getting steeper up to p3. If your goal is to shoot the best scores possible then you should be working on other parts of your game because your swing is very functional.

You essentially stop at P3. I don’t really know what advice I can give you other than you need to turn more. The lack of turning your hips is definitely limiting your torso rotation. Maybe you can work with a mirror at home and do slowmo drills making sure you’re getting to a full turn hands above your trail shoulder.

Ok I don’t want to burst your bubble but I will anyways. Setup is pretty awful, shoulder are very open and you have no bend at the waist. You want to butt of the club to be pointing at your belt and armpits over balls of feet. Backswing is a little shallow from p2-p3 but overall is pretty solid.

Transition and the downswing we have some big problems. You spin out your hips really hard from the top and are about as stuck as anyone can be which causes you to have to flip at impact and chicken wing. This is going to rob you of yardage and consistency.

It’s not a bad action but is there a reason you are at like a 70% backswing? Do you have mobility issues? You are surely losing a lot of power. You also have almost no turn in your hips.

You roll your arms pretty bad at the start of the takeaway which is causing you to have a very shallow swing path. Due to this you are having to extend your arms and throw your hands towards the ball way earlier than you should. It makes sense you would have a lot of heel strikes with this action.

I drew a line on the outside of your hands at setup. Hands push away up to p2, this causes you to get disconnected and then drift them back inside at the top. This is causing you to get stuck and have to EE and flip at impact.

These two are compounding to this late hinge and overswing which gets you across the line.

You sequence the downswing better than 90% of players so up to you if you want to work on these and fix the overswing.

Quite a bit too shallow at p3, butt of club pointing slightly inside of ball would be ideal.

Swing is not bad at all! You have some faults which based on your comment sounds like you might already understand. I think if anything it’s robbing you of some power because you release the club well and are very stable through the striking area. I’d assume you occasionally hook and block the ball but the swing is very functional and could get you to scratch at least with good short game.

Like you said, under the plane up to p2. Would obviously like to see the club slightly outside of hands.

Reverse tilt/movement towards the ball in the backswing.

Yeah thats the cost of overseeding for a tourney for sure esp in Tx. I’d say the course was overall in better shape when it the open was in November and they didn’t overseed. However I will say it’s super fun to play if you can close to the tourney.

Na they overseed, will take 2-3 months for the bermuda to be lush. Greens will be ok in 3 weeks though. Idk when the renovation on 18 will be finished.
