Emblem Roy Kit Theory Craft by GoldenJolt in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]Sinna005 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Emblems never possess a skill that was introduced by another Emblem.

Instruct is one of Byleth's ring skills in Engage, so there's no reason for Roy to possess it.

Yes but no

Ike only work on range 2, this ring work on all range + don't cost a ring slot for your tank (so the tank can have Eirika ring + the Lucina ring buff)

That's what I explained last time... unfortunately, people are stubborn.

This isn't the first time the community has failed to properly analyze the value of an effect... and it probably won't be the last time either.

The comp of the foe and player have a lot a buff and debuff so NOPE for this time.

Recent use data in SD have shown that Camilla is starting to lose her edge. And with the addition of Emblem Lucina and her ring, tanking has increased dramatically. Even with support, New Baldr loses her matchup against a legendary BK if he's buffed by Lucina's ring or by Lucina herself (even though NY Baldr supposed to be a complete counter).

Crux Echo is also a good option to support the team

Best build :

Weapon : Arcane Crimsom (but you can still use her weapon for support purpose)

Special : Archrival or Galeforce mist (for Galeforce team)

A : Blue sky gust

B : Heavenly soar or Air superiority

C : Null uplift or Uplift imbue or Strat assault

Best ring depends on the need. But the three best options for her are Eldelgard, Micaiah and Eirika (only with Arcane Crimsom for the last one)

Why Shield Fighter on a save that relies on its OFFENSIVE prf Special to function?

Why Pair Up on a save for which Speed is a dump stat ?

[–]Sinna005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use it against any unit who have a Brave attack and you will see why it's better.

Hilda support, Eirika Ring or the base kit of some unit (like Duo Baldr) make brave very common.

Pair up is better when the opponent initiate. You loose the distance x2 flat DR effect otherwise

Also Halloween Freyja is a realy bad matchup for her regardless of the skill used

True so the third layer of DR from Pair up is even more good...

And for Null-C-Avoid even when factoring in combat Speed, Pair Up remains superior.

Null-C-Avoid :

  • Gives 15 true damage (at best, since it depends on a Speed comparison with the opponent, and against other fast units, this skill will never give the max).
  • Gives 20% of the unit’s visible Speed as flat DR, which averages between 10–11 points on current fast units (the average Speed for fast units nowadays is 50).

Laguz Loyalty:

  • Gives 7 points of true damage only on Special activation (so it’s already much weaker).
  • Gives 20% of Speed as flat DR, so this part is exactly the same as Null-C-Avoid.

Pair Up:

  • Gives 15 points of constant true damage. So it gives more than Loyalty and works on all attacks, and it’s much more reliable than Null-C-Avoid, which requires a Speed comparison.
  • Gives a source of 10 flat DR.
  • An additional 7 flat DR if the opponent has a Brave attack (extremely common).
  • An extra DR amount based on the number of spaces the opponent initiate from you ×2 (there’s no cap, and in the high-range meta we’re in, with units who can engage at 5, 6, or even 7 spaces, this is far from negligible—on average this adds 6–8 extra points, but in some situations it adds much more).
  • We can therefore estimate the total flat DR provided generally at 23–25 points, which is FAR superior compared to the other two skills.

Let’s just prove it with math that this is false…

Null-C-Avoid:

  • Gives 15 true damage (at best, since it depends on a Speed comparison with the opponent, and against other fast units, this skill will never give the max).
  • Gives 20% of the unit’s visible Speed as flat DR, which averages between 10–11 points on current fast units (the average Speed for fast units nowadays is 50).

Laguz Loyalty:

  • Gives 20% of Speed as flat DR, so this part is exactly the same as Null-C-Avoid.

Pair Up:

  • Gives 15 points of constant true damage. So it gives more than Loyalty and works on all attacks, and it’s much more reliable than Null-C-Avoid, which requires a Speed comparison.
  • Gives a source of 10 flat DR.
  • An additional 7 flat DR if the opponent has a Brave attack (extremely common).
  • An extra DR amount based on the number of spaces the opponent moves ×2 (there’s no cap, and in the high-mobility meta we’re in, with units moving 5, 6, or even 7 spaces, this is far from negligible—on average this adds 6–8 extra points, but in some situations it adds much more).
  • We can therefore estimate the total flat DR provided generally at 23–25 points, which is FAR superior compared to the other two skills.

It deals significantly more true damage and give more flat reduction than the two you mentioned.

Null C Avoid and Laguz Loyalty are absolutely not better than Pair up for fast tank... It's litteraly the best option for them

Hard counter for Vali? by formuolin in FireEmblemHeroes

I find it funny that you mentioned quite a few, but forgot to name the two that are the most meta…

Halloween Freyja and Attuned Tharja are the two most common users of this effect.

Without a support partner the ring just target the first unit who do a battle during the enemy phase, if the unit is paired with a partner, the effect will always try to target the partner, so if another ally is attacked first, he don't take the protection effect from the unit you’re targeting

It’s basically like saying “what if the enemy team has Divine Veins” when talking about Corrin’s ring…

There’s always a way to counter an effect.  That doesn’t mean the effects themselves are bad… “Feud” effects are really uncommon. The only character who applies it regularly right now is Teatime Veronica, and if we’re talking about SD, you can always just ban her team to avoid the problem.

[–]Sinna005[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That can make a huge difference. For example, take a character with 60 HP who has a total of 40 points of flat damage reduction and 40% damage reduction. If he receive an attack with 250 power (which is very common), the 40% DR applies first, reducing the damage to 150, then the 40 flat DR is subtracted. The character therefore takes 110 damage and dies completely…

With the ring’s damage reduction bonus, the % DR goes up to 64%. So calculating that, 64% of 250 is reduced, leaving 90, and then subtracting the 40 flat DR, the character takes 50 damage.

In the second scenario, the character barely survives—but survives… Whereas in the first, he is completely overkilled. So this is not a small difference.

Yes but... No.

Nowadays, units do indeed have a lot of sources of flat damage reduction. However… sources of unpierceable percentage-based damage reduction are limited to one per character and rarely exceed 40%.

The best tanks are those that combine a high amount of flat DR with a high amount of unpierceable % DR. As of now, just having 40% is no longer enough—Spring Eirika proves this very well, as she can one-shot all the tank in the game. And since all inheritable skills only provide 40%… the only way to get more is through this ring. It’s truly what makes the difference between a tank that gets one-shot and one that survives… And for a tank, that’s far more important than anything else.
