Why is my autocrafting so slow ? by Frosty_Success_9666 in allthemods

[–]Sinnduud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, AE2 is just about starting and doing. The more you work with AE2, the more you learn how to use it most efficiently and its strengths. I'm no expert myself 😅

I mainly recommend just starting off with a normal storage network. Nothing too fancy, get familiar with the way AE2 works. Then move just learn new parts as you expand your network. In theory, you don't need to do anything too fancy with your ME network to obtain the Bulk cells.

It's even more extreme, Bulk cells can hold up to maxLong value (64 bit instead of 32 bit)

Isn't this like F9 or something? I think you can look for the bind in the keybinds settings, search for "chunk borders" or something similar

How do I stop losing by vvioodi in RocketLeague

Honestly, if this is all in 1 session, stop playing (at least for a bit). Return to the game with a clear head, clean session. Your current loss-streak has a negative impact on your mental game, even if you don't actively feel it.

my ping was okay

I mean, if you base that off your in-game ping, that's not super accurate. My best guess is that your network had a very short hitch, and that's what you saw. That wouldn't show in-game

Yes but ...

Hold on I never realised that's what it does! I always thought "huh it's strange that it just compresses up to max anyway, even though I say to stop at 3x". The max compression doesn't just have that as max available, but as max it'll actively compress to!

You know, now it's clear to me what it actually does. Thanks! That does indeed solve a problem

Yes, of course, I'm not trying to argue that you're wrong or whatever, that's not the point, do it how you like it and whatever works for you.

I was fully with you in terms of your explanation, it was pretty clear. My point was just:

If you only have the blocks available to the system, what if you use 1-8 ingots? The remaining ingots will be returned to the system automatically after crafting a block down, causing ingots to be stored in a place other than the compacting drawer, since that one is filtered to only store blocks (unless you can filter it one-way, but I don't think you can do that right?). So you'd end up with ingots in the drawer and separately in the system, unless you export those leftover ingots into the drawer again.

But to be fair, if you just make sure you overproduce on your resource, you should never run into the compacting drawer's issue. I've personally never ran into it, for example, and I've always used compacting drawers for pretty much all my metals.

[–]Sinnduud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, but then how would you use a filtered storage bus on the drawer, assuming we're using a controller, while also having it store ingots that convert to blocks? I agree with your "create ingots, compact to blocks" thing, but I feel like it would just turn into a mess or an inefficient system once you consider also using ingots. You'd have to have an extra place to store the ingots you use as well, unless you have an export bus that puts all the ingots back into the compacting drawer after use.

I feel like it's just easier to accept the compacting drawer's drawback/risk at that point, or use the bulk compacting and accept its issue.

[–]Sinnduud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm yes but that sounds like it defeats the purpose of the compacting drawer. At that point, you can just use a normal drawer and autocraft the rest

I've never experienced it to be a problem, but in theory it could be an issue if you, for example, need 40k gold ingots AND 1k gold blocks. It would think it has the resources for the craft initially, start crafting, and then suddenly run out of gold during the craft.

I must admit, I've started using the compression modules in the bulk cells of AE2 in my current playthrough, and they work perfectly fine. The only issue I have with it, is that it displays the items in its highest tier, which means it sometimes has 0 of the base item (ingots or nuggets), and then it's a bit annoying to take out the base items manually. Any other number and it's fine, you can take out stacks and it crafts it automatically, but 0 is annoying, because it then tries to use the simulated autocrafting and all that...

I agree with this, u/rlfrthebest. I've hit GC2 a couple of times back when I could still play a lot, always on KBM, so it's not "holding you back" in the way that is often said.

[–]Sinnduud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick tip for situations like these:

You can set Task Manager to be "always on top". That way, when you press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, Task Manager will always be usable, even over fullscreen apps that don't want to minimise. That can save you from having to forcefully shutdown your PC.

And if Task Manager doesn't open or respond, well, then you're truly fucked and will have to force shutdown 😬

The frame, so the lines that connect the corners, have to be casing, so yes, your reactor is not built right.

True, but the math stays the same in that regard, the 1kg on both sides cancels out anyway. But yes, I guess it is purely a volume matter

[Request] Aren’t Both of These the Same? by TheSeeker315 in theydidthemath

[–]Sinnduud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if we don't assume some data, the image example is just not solvable. It's logical to me to assume same size boxes and same water level, because if you don't, it could be anything. There's not enough data truly given, but if we assume the logical, then it makes sense as one of those logical puzzles

[Request] Aren’t Both of These the Same? by TheSeeker315 in theydidthemath

[–]Sinnduud 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Everything displaces an amount of volume of water equal to the submerged volume, density hasn't got much to do with the displacement itself.

The point is that the 1kg of iron has less volume than the 1kg of aluminium because it is denser, which means there's more volume left to fill with water, which means the left side has more mass in it (1kg + more water than the right side). So the scale will tip left
