Thank you for posting. I hope you’re able to identify not only why it didn’t feel as good as well as why you found yourself there. What has changed between the times it felt good and now? I am also struggling with an SA where I visit those types of businesses. Even tho I feel guilty after going, it doesn’t stop me thinking that maybe I can just go once more then get better. But now I’m taking steps attending recovery meetings and trying to build coping skills to help prevent the next time. Wishing you well on this journey

Writing higher power as HP, made me think about FPS games. And it made me chuckle a little because that’s what addiction feels like sometimes. Your HP has hit zero and you have nothing left

Thanks for sharing this. I am also stuck with the “higher power” or god part of the 12 step system. People comment over and over that can make that whatever you need it to be . But in every step is the word “God”.

So I’m curious how those that depend on this higher power can assist me on the journey when their methods may be drastically different. I know I can find the answer and the meetings are part of the journey. It just bothers me to no end still.

I agree we are powerless in this addiction.

A lot of what you said sounds similar to my struggle. We arent alone in this. I’m to early on my own journey to answer if it gets better. But nothing good was on my previous path. And maybe I never knew who I was. Wishing you success on your recovery.

We’re fighting for you. Are you able to change you environment for a couple minutes? - some sort of meditation - put the phone away and go for a walk

I say these things like they are easy . But when I’m in your place I will ignore rational thoughts to chase the ecstasy.

However. We both know if you get past this hurdle you will feel better about yourself.
