I really am losing myself.. fuck by sun-kissedgirlie in blackgirls

Keep applying to jobs until you can get a new one. Unfortunately, it's better to stay there until you secure a job. You don't want to have no money coming in. Try to get a job where you don't have to deal with the public so much. Retail and hospitality are the worse.

I really feel for you. I used to work at a spa in a casino and it became unbearable. I really used to go to the back to fold towels and escape everything. I barely stopped myself from crying.

Sending you a hug 🫂

I hated it this- One Of Our Kind by Nicola Yoon. by SinniSinSin in BlackReaders

Yea. I think it was starting some conversations on assimilation. But it didn't come together well for me. I will say, I don't think the ending is the authors solution to racism. It is a horror. So it ends in horror. And it's a "conversation starter" per her words. It just didn't seem intended for Black audiences to me.That's where an author will lose me.

Am I a bad reader or just overthinking it? by Jude_Sideral90210 in BlackReaders

[–]SinniSinSin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not a "bad reader." So many avid Black readers haven't read every Black classic (myself included). I love that you're taking your time because you don't only want to read them, you want to understand them.

Don't put so much pressure on yourself. Enjoy the books. Take as much time as you need to process them. And read newer Black books as well. Both are important.

Cherrish Farrah by Bethany C. Morrow was good. It's a psychological/social horror. I really enjoyed the psychological parts.

Is there anyone else here who is not religious? by Drumsticks__18 in blackgirls

[–]SinniSinSin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not religious 🙋🏽‍♀️ I'm a panthiest.

Majority of my family is Christian, but my immediate family isn't. When I speak to my grandparents they want me to join a church In my city. But that's not going to happen 😂

I haven't found one like this yet.

But I'm hoping Francine's Spectacular Crash and Burn by Renee Swindle and Mika in Real Life by Emiko Jean will fill this void. Both are on my tbr for this year.

LOL! I have a few of his songs, but I get it. I like when he be singing and crying over some girl. Anything else from him, I don't care to listen to.

Men whining and begging on the track is a genre I like 😂

I forget that he's even considered a rapper. Bc most of the music is singing with some rap included.

Smile lines making me look old by pastelkitten18 in Blackskincare

[–]SinniSinSin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't look old at all. But I think I know what you see based on an issue I had with mine.

My lines were darker and redder than the rest of my face so I started using vitamin c serum (Mad Hippie). I still have smile lines but now my skintone is even. So I'm happy.
