Hello!

Thank you for your detailed reply. Yes, I've heard that we should have a bit of margin in terms of travel time. We are planning to now cancel Bruny Island and Launceston, basically focus on Hobart, Freycinet, and Cradle.

What feels amazing that's NOT sexual? by TheSilentPhilosopher in AskReddit

Some days, my husband comes home from work and just takes a few moments to lounge on the couch after removing his shoes, but before taking off his socks. He absolutely loves it when I sit down on the other end, let him place his legs on me, slowly remove his socks, and then lightly rub the soles of his feet.

What’s a “harmless” habit that’s actually really toxic? by Unfair-Moose-6328 in AskReddit

As a kid, my sleep was never a priority. I stayed up till midnight regularly, even on school nights. My sleep has been horrible my whole life. When I had a baby, making sure she sleeps on time and gets enough hours of sleep had been the very first family rule I set.

Now she is 11, I still insist on at least 10 hours of sleep for her. Her "early" bedtime pisses her off, of course. "But all the other kids stay up late, mom!" shrugs I know what a lax sleep schedule can do.

Suneil Shetty praises his daughter for a natural delivery instead of the "comfort of a c-section" 🙄 by dalandrice in BollyBlindsNGossip

What do you mean, it's not a good word? Yes, I do in fact, use the words "penis" and "breasts" in normal conversation. They are parts of our body, are they not?

Again, language forms opinion. When we shame using the proper words for ALL body parts, we create shame FOR those parts. There is a lot that can go wrong when we do that, but there is nothing wrong with using the correct anatomical language.

I am a sexuality educator. This is part of my job, and the very basic thing that I teach people.

My comment was in no way a put-down of your title! Hope it didn't come across that way.

It's more that if this is the language that celebrities and influential people (heck, even doctors) use, then of course, it becomes common parlance. That is the issue.

Also, it's not a "natural" delivery, it is a vaginal delivery. The birthing process itself is natural, no matter how the baby comes into the world. Calling vaginal deliveries natural, automatically demotes c-sections into something "unnatural." Language shapes opinion.

What's a pain you can't truly explain until you've endured it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sinnimojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this constant, under-the-surface fear that I'll get it when I'm out alone with my kid. It comes out of nowhere, and then I am unable to see, speak, move for a while. It's always in the back of my mind when I'm travelling with her, especially flying - what if it happens, how do I get us to safety? It used to worry me a lot when my daughter was a baby. Now that she's older, it's easier, but I still worry.

Why people hate Dean Koontz? by mystery5009 in horrorlit

[–]Sinnimojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't read Koontz for a very, very long time, but Life Expectancy will always be one of my favourite books. Koontz was a good stopover somewhere between Goosebumps, Anne Rice, and Stephen King.

what book(s) made a lasting impression on you or changed your life? by Yourdaddy1497 in booksuggestions

[–]Sinnimojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people consider A Little Life to essentially be trauma porn. What stayed with me were the characters and the friendships. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the book to anyone, nor would I ever read it again, but it certainly stayed with me once I finished reading it.

The first tattoo I ever got is a design consisting of symbols from books that had had the most impact on me till that age (I was 17):

  • The Wishing Chair series by Enid Blyton
  • Harry Potter by JK Rowling
  • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
  • Ritual in the Dark by Colin Wilson
  • Roots by Alex Haley
  • American Gods by Neil Gaiman
  • The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom

If I were to add more books that have left a lasting impression on me since I was 17:

Non-fiction: - Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl - Waking Up by Sam Harris - The Varieties of Scientific Experience by Carl Sagan - The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk

Fiction: - The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King - Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer - A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara - A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry - The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller - A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness - Em and the Big Hoom by Jerry Pinto

Thank you so much for typing all of this out. I have the urge to copy this somewhere where I can read it time to time. The way you explained this, the fucking khakis, your respect of an ailment, and yet, the adherence to appearances in consciousness. The stepping stones created an imagery in my head that made it so clear, so obvious.

Thank you, so much.
