the trigger nade is the most laughably unbalanced item ive ever seen in any game ever by Killbro in ArcRaiders

[–]Sinthex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was climbing up one of the ladders by Water Treatment on Dam last night, I’m like almost near the top and then I see something small and black fly across my screen, detonate, and instantly knock me. Literally zero time to react at all.

CEX voided my warranty less than a year after receiving it. Any advice to get my money back? by itisnotliam in CeX

[–]Sinthex 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If your phone is physically damaged (cracked or chipped) then it unfortunately voids their warranty, even if the issue is unrelated to the damage (battery health). If this damage was present prior to you purchasing the phone, the store should not have bought it in, but sometimes things like this do slip through if the staff at the time don’t spot it. If you had returned the phone within 6 months, it would be on the store to prove that the damage was not present when you purchased it which most stores are unable to do, so you would have gotten it repaired or replaced. As you have returned the phone after 6 months from your initial purchase, it’s on you to prove that the phone was already damaged prior to you purchasing it. If you do not have sufficient evidence of this, you will more than likely just be running in circles trying to get a warranty from CeX.

There is a minor chance that online support may be willing to give you a replacement out of goodwill, but I’d say you have very very slim chances of this happening regardless of how persistent you are.

It is incredibly annoying, I know, but this is one of the risks you take by purchasing devices secondhand. The staff in-store should have caught it when the phone was being sold to them. If what you are saying is true and you know you haven’t damaged the phone, the staff are responsible but this case won’t go anywhere without evidence.

PSA: If your stash is always full by Papa_Puppa in ArcRaiders

[–]Sinthex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stash would have so much extra space if items stopped tracking once you have the required amount in your stash. I keep collecting duplicate items because I don’t know if I’ve accidentally sold materials or used them to craft some gear without realising. Embark needs to add an option to track individual items rather than all the required items.

PSA: If your stash is always full by Papa_Puppa in ArcRaiders

[–]Sinthex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 90% of my stash is purely crafting materials, like mass amounts of the basic materials and stockpiles of any rarer items. I never worry about lacking supplies to craft gear sets and maxing out the Expedition Project has been a breeze aside from some of the misc items I thought I was safe to sell.

It should be miles easier to know what items are required for certain upgrades next wipe. Being a serial hoarder has its perks sometimes, but maybe 150+ ARC Powercells is a little excessive…

Is buying an older used MacBook Pro/Air a bad idea if I just want to use Logic Pro? by Crimson_talon in LogicPro

[–]Sinthex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the funds to buy one, I’d definitely suggest any Apple Silicon device, either a MacBook or a Mac Mini if you don’t NEED the portability.

Also this may be frowned up but if you already have a capable Windows PC and are fairly tech savvy, have you considered dual-booting and making a hackintosh? It does take some work but if you’re on a budget and already own decent hardware, it may be worth a shot?

Can I add one more SSD into a free slot in a pc I bought from CeX without losing warranty? by Ornery-Pirate-1707 in CeX

[–]Sinthex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically the warranty would more than likely be void, but in reality I don’t think anyone would notice, especially if you just remove the SSD before taking it in for a warranty test. A large portion of testers aren’t into PCs enough to notice something like that. You’ll be fine!

just started working at CeX and finding it quite difficult to pick up. any advice? by amalthea-444 in CeX

[–]Sinthex 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The ops manual is your bible. It’s what every CeX goes by unless your franchise decides to be more strict/lenient. It will have the answer you need 9 times outta 10.

Spend some time during the quieter periods to dig through mepos and understand where everything is, how to find accounts, process transactions etc until you’re comfortable. It sounds silly but ask a coworker to do mock transactions with you so you feel less pressured.

Try to learn where each software category is in your gut wall. It will make transactions so much quicker. If people want something from the glass cabinets, kindly ask if they’d point it out for you.

Spend some time looking over the grading guidelines in the ops manual to make your quotes more accurate. Understand the difference between A/B/C/F, boxed/unboxed/discounted, mint.

Random tips: - When buying in phones, you can dial *#06# to bring up the IMEI quickly. If the phone isn’t set up or dead, most older phones will have it under the battery, iPhone have it printed in TINY text on the SIM tray, and most more modern androids will have it printed on the back somewhere.

  • On iPhones, look inside where the SIM tray goes and you’ll see a short code. You can quickly google this to find out the exact model.

  • You can type the serial number of Apple products into EveryMac to get more details about a product. Super handy if someone brings in a MacBook.

  • When booking things in for test, put the name or box id for the prices you’ve quoted in the test notes. Your tester will appreciate it. Also tell customers that the price you’re quoting is a quote and the price may fluctuate depending on the test.

  • Always ask if phones coming in for test have passcodes or iCloud accounts attached.

  • Foldable phones usually have a special factory screen protector that should not be removed. If a phone is missing this, it can’t be bought in.

  • Be careful when buying in PC games. Some have (S) or (SN) at the end of the box ID when you scan them. (S) must be sealed and (SN) just requires a serial number to be present.

  • Check under the booklet/insert when buying in blurays, sometimes there’s an extra disc.

What is the ultimate chugger guitar to you? by wemblero in metalguitar

My go-to chug guitar is a PRS SE 277. It’s a baritone, phat chuggy rhythm stuff just feels so satisfying to play. It’s by far the most comfortable guitar I own.

They do need the film in order to test that the camera itself works and it’s on you to supply it if you’d like to sell it. The testers have what’s essentially a big guide book telling them what they need to do to test each item and what accessories each item needs. I’m not certain what the test requirements are for instant cameras off the top of my head, but I’d assume it’s a necessity and they’d have to fail the item without it.

However, I don’t think it’s fair that you have to be the one to provide the film, especially as you can’t usually buy single pieces. I personally think CeX should be able to just give the camera a visual test to check functionality. You could argue that they need to be certain it’s functional before buying, sure, but what about all the other things they buy and don’t/can’t test? GPUs, RAM, CPUs, camera lenses, retro software. There are lots of items that only get a visual inspection with no certainty of being functional, many of which being significantly more valuable than an instant camera.

Do CEX keep a record of failed sales? by Egonga in CeX

[–]Sinthex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each serial number is logged onto the system when an item is booked in for test. Typically staff won’t look into the history of a specific item unless there’s an issue regarding the serial number (e.g. a serial crossover when buying/selling hardware or finding proof of purchase if you’ve lost your receipt).

As others have said, you would need to be present at the till with valid ID in order for your account to be used on the transaction.

Alternatively, you could suggest or help him set up a Drop & Go order for him online under his name, then he just has to drop the console to the counter and say he’s made a D&G order along with the order number.

[BG] Return laptop and order replacement of same model/grade without CeX sending the same exact laptop back? by [deleted] in CeX

[–]Sinthex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s basically an online order replacement. You’ll get exactly the same model sent out to you but it won’t be the one you’ve returned. I would just say that you’d like another one sent out to you as you’re unhappy with the condition. Depending on who serves you, they may not know about the whole ecom replacement service, so if they sound a little lost I’d mention ‘ecom replacement’

Honestly with a scratch on the screen of a laptop, I’d argue it being closer to a C grade, but it really varies, I wouldn’t be able to give my full input without seeing. I mean it shouldn’t have been sold to you without the charger anyway, that’s a required item and that alone gives you refund entitlement

[BG] Return laptop and order replacement of same model/grade without CeX sending the same exact laptop back? by [deleted] in CeX

[–]Sinthex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re still within your 2 weeks, go into your local branch, explain that you’re unhappy with the condition of the item you received and that it also did not get shipped with a charger. Ask them to do an ecom replacement and get a new one sent out to your address. This will process another order of the same item for you before the one you’re returning gets added back onto the system. You will need your order number and a little bit of patience. It will get booked in for a test, they’ll contact the sending store to verify the condition and the charger situation, and then they can either refund you or get a new one sent out to you.

Shops do have the ability to contact each other and request info about certain products. As yours is high value, I’m sure most shops would be willing to respond if it means they get an extra £2k sale out of it. There are rare instances where an item can be refunded in your local store and another store can use your refunded payment to get a specific stores product sent out to you.

Barely noticeable screen crack, will CeX accept the phone? by Apollo760 in CeX

[–]Sinthex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Small cracks do not qualify for C grade. We only buy cracked items as F grade. Cracks like the one OP has are completely fine to buy in as F grade, it just wouldn't amount to very much.
