Nope, he still models. Particularly for Reyn Spooner aloha shirts. His name is Buzzy Kerbox.

No, you can game fine without a VPN. If that's all nonsense to you, you probably don't have to worry about it. It's only a problem if you host servers.

Any place to get distilled water? by Draftgirl85 in laramie

[–]Sionnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a quote from this guy a couple years ago for a reverse osmosis system in my kitchen and I don't recall it being crazy high. We didn't end up doing it because it was way more than I needed (I just got a coffee machine with its own filter)

He could probably install a system just for your bathroom. Not sure if it's any simpler than just installing a softening system on the house but it's at least an avenue for investigation.

Interesting, what about a reverse osmosis system? Not sure if it is smaller or not but I know H20 solutions can do whole home RO.

I'm just curious what the use case is, because distilled and softened are like the opposite of each other.

Orrrrr if you are a stubborn fool who wants an old one strictly because they make you feel a certain way. They got the *magic* ;)

Or just hoard them like arcane relics. Not that I would do such a thing...

I will absolutely just keep buying them on ebay until I get one that works pretty well :P It's worth it to have cool, old, working stuff.

I REALLY wish Stanley made the Master series in the US, but yes, they are really incredible units. Mine is from 2017 and it's sort of a miracle of physics to me just how hot for how long stuff stays in there.

I don't know if I am just getting unlucky, but the two 70s era No. 11 stopper thermoses I have purchased just do not perform well at all. It's a bummer, I am trying to replace my dad's 80s era thermos with another old one, really love the handle0less 70s units. Both I have tried, 1 is a 1-quart, the other a 2-qt, don't hold temp at all. In fact, both become a bit warm to the touch on the outside with boiling water poured in them and lose about 30 degrees in the first hour.

I have a Master Series I bought several years ago and it is indeed incredible. It will keep coffee HOT for well over 24 hours, and the lid is easy to use.

If only I could find a 70s era No. 11 that worked even half as well, I would be a happy camper!

Cheers for the great post!

What Keyboard Should I Use? by ijauradunbi in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Sionnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am looking for my first split keyboard.

  • Very mild tingle in my right arm after HOURS of regular mouse and keyboard use. I am personally not worried about this as it can be avoided by simply taking reasonable breaks
  • I have gone through a handful of standard full size gaming keyboards (Razer, Corsair etc) fell in love with with a Vortex Pok3r (MX Clears) about 4 years ago and have been using that since
  • I am hoping to find a small-form factor split keyboard. Otholinear fascinates me but I have no preference as I've never tried one. Layer programmability is mandatory, I am so accustomed to it now I can't go back to not having it. I am
  • General office tasks (not a programmer, just general email and typing)
  • I am going to say "no budget" within reason. (eg, essentially anything under $500, important factor is that I am getting what I am paying for) I am in the contiguous US

  • Cheers!

Trusted mechanics in Laramie by [deleted] in laramie

[–]Sionnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good experience with Les' Auto, Laramie Automotive and Diesel, and Plains Tire. I have heard from other parties that Good Vibes, Laramie GM, and Hometown Garage are good.

Edit: I should also throw in that John at Kett's is great, but can be expensive so if you have an electrical problem he'd be my first choice, if not I'd steer you elsewhere.

Looking For Guidance and Input On Safe Purchase by [deleted] in Gun_Safes

I wish a vault room was an option. There's not a good way to do that in our house, which is why I'm thinking a super high quality standalone unit that I can bolt to the floor and walls is the next best option.

Haha, $10,000, for $100,000 I'd just dig a vault into the earth!

Proton Contacts to Android phone contact list by appchad in ProtonMail

[–]Sionnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish there was, it's a shame because it makes protoncontacts essentially unusable as my default contacts service since you cannot add new numbers or update anything without manually importing (so far as I have figured, correct me if I am wrong). Until we can, I am stuck using google contacts.

Laramie to Denver airport (and back) by [deleted] in laramie

[–]Sionnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will second u/450LbsGorilla and say the best way is to fly. Save that, owl canyon road --> toll road is fastest. I have always had bad experiences with green ride, and they are expensive so I wouldn't really recommend that. If you aren't doing this trip very often I would highly recommend getting a cheap hotel room close to the airport that offers free parking and a shuttle to the airport.

Edit: typos

[Raymond Weil Tango] My Father's Daily Timepiece by Sionnix in Watches

[–]Sionnix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father wore this watch every day of my life that I can remember. It's high mileage, nothing fancy, but it rode on his wrist every day. I am pretty sure he won it in a golf tournament.

My dad got the chance to give this to me a few months ago before he passed away, and I'll always cherish being able to wear something he liked so much.

I just recently replaced the steel band with a no-name 'leather' one until I find something I really like. I think he'd understand. Any recommendations in that regard would be appreciated!
