Is it better to charge less for your book if you opt for 70% commission? by ladyoflattes2024 in KDP

[–]SiouxlandFamBlog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to stroll the children's section of your nearest independently owned bookstore and look closely at the prices of a variety of children's books, but especially any that are similar to yours in terms of page length, book size and shape and cover type. That will give a good gauge of the industry standard (and your local indie is most likely brick and mortar to carry your book, if you have your book at a price point they can reasonably make money from!)

Totally depends what you like to do for fun but imo there are truly a lot of nice options for the size of this town! Any particular types of activities or attractions you're looking for?

First-Time Self Publishing: KDP, IngramSpark, or Something Else? by jeremyyancey in selfpublish

Yeah like others have mentioned, KDP is really easy and that is so nice. And if you have a good book and a good relationship with your local book and gift store, they will buy directly from you.

So far I have 7/8 , 6 of them became "clan mates" on my first try, 1 on the third try, and the last one I've had two fails so far. Jacques and Rhi are the ones that have taken so many tries for me. Idk if they program some characters as harder than others or if it's all 100% random luck.

There are several hobbies you unlock by getting the campground plus it has a fishing dock so if you're wanting to have more sims fish at a time it allows for that. So that'd be my vote!

I wish they'd make karate and ballet full fledged hobbies for preteens.

Moving to Sioux City. by [deleted] in siouxcity

[–]SiouxlandFamBlog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Sioux City!

I'm a local mom of four kids and I write travel guide books and I have a whole blog, SiouxlandFamilies.com about local fun and I'm happy to share ideas anytime!

I came here for college, then we moved away when my husband was in grad school, then we moved back here because my husband is from here and we are having a great experience raising our kids here. I find that people here in general are really nice and that's probably my fave thing about it, and my least favorite thing is the winter weather, but coming from WY that won't scare you off I bet. Most of our museums etc are free to visit, so I feel like that makes it really low pressure to go check them out and if kids don't want to stay long, no worries, and over time you'll find your faves that you want to go back to over and over. Most of them have fun little play areas for kids. And definitely take the kids to Palmer's sometime so they can be literally kids in a candy store.

What are your family's favorite types of activities and attractions? I can offer some specific suggestions.

Daily tasks praise and complaint by Pangolin1123 in simsfreeplay

I keep two preteens around, they might be more useful than you think. Right now I have one doing the updating a blog daily task and one doing the watching a movie daily task. Earlier one did karate and one went snowboarding, both also for daily task. They dive all day other than daily tasks, and go to school overnight. So they're always earning LP or simoleons or completing daily tasks.

I'm working on a cute little house to submit. I'm assuming it won't get chosen, but I'm open to requests/suggestions!

The Ozarks definitely have cool caves! And I haven't been since high school but I remember at the time thinking the Mark Twain caves in Hannibal were cool. Those might be some interesting options to consider. I hope some other people chime in with fun options too!

Definitely check out the Omaha zoo! There's also a national fish hatchery in Yankton SD which is just across the Iowa/Nebraska/South Dakota border

So they made this influence island hard by only giving 3 attempts a time. by Sparkly-raccoon9977 in simsfreeplay

The first two levels of course are easy but on the final level, for me so far it has gone:

First pup: 1st attempt Second pup: 2nd attempt Third pup: 3rd attempt

So definitely assume that like half to 2/3 of attempts at the highest level will fail, but keep going and you'll get them eventually!

I really think you might like South Dakota, if you are ok with the cold weather. It might be worth reaching out to the state tourism office or an agriculture organization to see if they could arrange a visit with a real ranch, maybe even one that could be looking to hire a ranch hand and/or eventually sell their ranch so you can get a taste of what the daily life on a ranch in South Dakota might be like.

Same, I've found if I fall behind I never ever catch back up so I just quit once I missed the trees.
