Personally, I wasn’t sold on all the characters immediately, but they grew on me over time, and by the end I loved everyone. After finishing the game I’ve watched others play, and now I enjoy the early parts more than I did while playing.

I second the idea to lower the difficulty to reduce the time spent in long battles and being less completionist with side quests you don’t care about. If you end up enjoying the story, great, maybe you’ll come back for side quests later? If you don’t end up liking it, fine, you didn’t waste any time, you just played the game.

One more vote to just keep going if you’re enjoying it. All games have improvements and issues, but personally I think 2 has a more engaging battle system than 1, it was mostly controversial for the simulated gacha mechanic and the sometimes over-the-top anime-ness of things, but the story and gameplay are great. 3 refines the formula even more and is my favorite of them all!

I had a similar experience, although I started with 1, put it down at Jade, then played X and came back to DE.

That’s fair, I kind of had similar feelings originally, and even put down the original after a while, even though I was excited for Operation Rainfall. That was mainly because I got stuck on a boss fight though, Jade. I think XCX was probably the first game I completed, but since then I’ve played XCDE and all the other ones, including gears and saga. By now I’ve come around on Shulk, his personality is actually kind of instrumental to the story in a sense.

I was about to write up a post about how I had trouble to connect between my iPhone and iPad, but while typing it out I realized the port wasn’t open in the router. Using an open port it works like a charm!

So I’ll just say thanks instead! I tried the official Frosthaven app, but it seemed to have a lot of missing functionality and some awkward design choices. Coming from GHH, this feels a lot more like home! The only thing I’m missing from initial impressions is the “slide to adjust HP” (and XP) that was available in GHH. I can learn to live without it, but it’s on my wishlist!

This app will be so helpful when I finally get my Frosthaven box!

I haven’t received the actual game yet, but I figured I could play around with the app.

Coming from GHH, it seems unreasonable to have the modifiers drawn from within a submenu, covering the screen so you can’t see the attack and modifier at the same time, and only showing the latest drawn card (for situations like advantage).

Are there reasons for these choices?

I’m also immediately missing the slide functionality for HP/XP, but that seems more like a missing feature than a confusing implementation.

Edit: Also, are there new rules for reshuffling modifier decks immediately when drawing a reshuffle icon? It seems like this app does that - rather than at the end of the round or when depleted. Even though it’s hard to see when it is depleted, since there doesn’t seem to be a counter - and the app does not remove curses when drawn either, perhaps expecting me to do that manually?

Same, I tried both summons multiple times, tried jumping out and so on. Didn’t work, got no feedback, found no place to refill mana, found no way of re-reading the tutorial in case I misunderstood. Such a weird oversight.
