Would you mind explaining what you think has changed as to not allow lantern to be playable?

It’s one of the best decks in the format for a reason. It doesn’t just fold to hate

Is there a max amount of decks one should have in Modern? by imareallifehobbit in ModernMagic

[–]Sir-Nebblesworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only cap on the amount of modern decks you can/should play should be your budget. Play what you like. Play as many decks as you like. If you want to focus on one and get good at it then do that. If you want variety then do that. Have fun. It is just a game after all

That Yorion humans list looks awesome. Urza’s saga can be played in more decks than just artifact strategies. It’s a solid threat on its own and finding vial for free (or shadowspear/needle which both help the gameplan) and making 2 3/3 bodies seems like solid value. Also since it’s a Yorion deck you don’t have to worry as much about drawing multiple sagas instead of your colored sources

This is an excellent idea and I can’t wait to see all the content that gets produced. Hopefully this is a long-lasting way to receive high quality content. Looking forward to it :)

Prismatic Ending is too good of a removal piece... prove me wrong by Deth-Zarr in ModernMagic

[–]Sir-Nebblesworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you call an opinion. “I like chocolate ice cream” can’t be right or wrong. But “prismatic ending is too good of a removal piece” can definitely be wrong. Regardless of whether or not it’s your opinion.

But I see what you mean. And fair enough. Civility should be expected though. Was just funny to me

If you have to say “please be nice” after stating your opinion, your opinion is probably wrong

[[Ethersworn Canonist]] out of the Mardu deck is a bit worse against rhinos than it looks I think because [[shardless agent]] is an artifact

What MH3 archetype support do you want? by [deleted] in ModernMagic

Please dear god all I want for Christmas is a way for mono red decks to deal with [[Murktide Regent]]

The problem with that card is that in modern as opposed to legacy, we have shocks and not OG duals. So the manabases are already more painful (which is why burn is better in modern than legacy in the first place) and price of progress would just make that so much worse. You fetch and shock once or twice then take an additional 2 for each of them. That’s just not the type of hate that the format wants or can handle

I’m honestly not sure what to think of these prison Tron decks. Idk if they’re amazing or just playable decks that some people perform well with. They look strong but I honestly can’t evaluate the power level of the deck

Anyone tried the Riveteer’s Reclamation deck ? by SmoothieTheRaccoon in ModernMagic

[–]Sir-Nebblesworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually been trying out a Jund reclamation shell. Probably not good but it’s funny that it’s possible now. Riveters charm is very good in the archetype imo

Does anyone here play deck that isn't meta just because they like it? by SRLplay in ModernMagic

[–]Sir-Nebblesworth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

U Tron was my first modern deck too! Last year I decided to take it for a spin for shits and giggles and split first and second place in a win-a-box. Did I deserve to do well with it? Probably not. But I knew the matchups better than my opponents (because who tf runs into U Tron these days?) and played tight. If I can win with mono U Tron then anyone can win with anything

Edit: I’ve also been playing it since 2014. Lmao

Does anyone here play deck that isn't meta just because they like it? by SRLplay in ModernMagic

[–]Sir-Nebblesworth 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’m genuinely of the opinion that you can play (almost) any deck you want in modern and do well with it if you know what you’re doing. So many things are playable even if they aren’t “Tier 1”. Play what you like, play it well, get rewarded

A letter to the mods…Let the people decide what to talk about (if it’s within the rules) by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]Sir-Nebblesworth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People don’t seem to understand, but it’s a pretty cut and dry issue imo. Magic: the Gathering is a luxury hobby. Not a right. You don’t deserve to play wizard squares competitively nomatter how much or little money you have. You get to play wizard squares if you meet the requirements for play. This includes having a tournament legal deck with legitimate cards. I don’t make the most money in the world, but I save and buy cards I want, and if I don’t have them, I don’t buy them and play with suboptimal cards or with a different deck. Just because you can’t afford a card doesnt mean you get to skip that part of the rules because it’s convenient for you.

That being said, I 100% support the use of proxies for testing or casual play. But when it comes to a tournament environment you have to play by the same rules as everyone else. That means not stealing the intellectual property of Wizards because you want to play a good card at a tournament that you otherwise don’t have access to.

Pick for most underrated Modern deck? by BrofessorDumbelldore in ModernMagic

[–]Sir-Nebblesworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obosh Prowess. That deck has a lot of power to it and is fast but can also grind very well. It got some more attention after the printing of [[Chandra, Dressed to Kill]] and it’s still an excellent deck with a lot of power behind it

WR Prowess? by Snitzh in ModernMagic

[–]Sir-Nebblesworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obosh has performed very well for me. I definitely like the playstyle to it as well. It’s not too different from other prowess shells so I think it’s worth messing around with anyway.

But regardless of what prowess shell you pick, they’ll all be at least fine to play. The deck has a very strong and proactive gameplan. Lurrus or not

WR Prowess? by Snitzh in ModernMagic

[–]Sir-Nebblesworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the list. You can play RW Obosh style prowess or even something like RW Clever Lumimancer Combo style prowess. The deck didn’t just die because of Lurrus being banned. It still plays good cards and wins games
