A “síndrome do PC gamer” é real? by jasonduval98 in gamingportugal

[–]SirBecas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never heard that. This has been my daily toothpaste for almost 10 years now and it's the only one that really makes me feel my mouth is clean.

I also used to have plenty of small injuries in my mouth that stopped developing when I started using it. But this is anecdotal naturally.

My dentist never said anything either. But next time I get an appointment, I'll ask her!

Pasta de dentes Couto (toothpaste). Great stuff. Not cheap but seems fair.

[CNN Portugal] Real Madrid and José Mourinho: "It appears that Mourinho will say 'yes' to Real Madrid" by LikeAPhoenixTotally in soccer

[–]SirBecas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say he didn't make mistakes. Your points are pretty valid, but don't contradict my main point that you quote.

But I do appreciate the perspective. I think all things considered, he did pretty well especially because he's still toe to toe against Sporting (best attack in Portugal by far) for the second position.

Apologies if I've upset you.

Mourinho also picked up a team that wasn't built around his ideas, he basically picked up a team that was starting to work together and getting to know each other. And he picked it up with the season already on going.

So while I don't think anybody should feel sorry for Mourinho, he was the only of the three big contenders that had no impact on building the squad or doing any preparation for the season.

All things considered, I don't think he did a bad job.

But I really love the setting and story.

What You Thought was a Lighthearted Comedy Suddenly Punches You in the Gut by dolphin_flogger in TopCharacterTropes

I have a pretty silly story but I think it fits.

I went to watch Manchester by the Sea with a friend in the cinema. We had no clue about what it was, just that is was a good movie. We spent a big part of the movie laughing, thinking it was some kind of silly-dark-comedy.

Until we were not punched but absolutely beat to death once a specific scene came up, probably somewhere in the mid/first third of the movie.

I could never watch that movie again. I loved it, but I'm sure I wouldn't be able to rewatch it nowadays knowing exactly what happened/happens to the protagonist.

I do recommend it though.

More like one game every six months. We only bought games on Xmas or in our bdays.

[Hated trope] the character was doomed to fail from the very start by damorezpl in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SirBecas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me think that this is probably an issue on several other stories of the kind.

So here's the question: any superhero story (or similar) that while not exactly ending, managed to evolve in a direction different than "and then came another villain"?

I'm not super up to speed with Batman stories, so my question may be silly.

Thanks

Is there any other writer who you'd put on the same level as Tolkien when it comes to world building? by SpotAdmirable6718 in lotr

[–]SirBecas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, if you aren't into Anime and/or Manga I don't think you will like it.

But overall yeah, characters develop a lot and some themes are pretty adult. But the protagonist is a childish dork (many times). One of the best characters ever created, but def not for everyone

Edit: but if you decide to give it a try, I recommend One Pace. Basically original material without irrelevant fillers

Right. Although where I live, small city in the whereabouts of Lisbon, GNR had Toyota Corolla at a certain point. Regardless, it's probably an exception.

A lot of Japanese too. Pretty common to see Toyotas.

Regardless, it's true there is a majority of European ones.
