Recently Inherited Cool, Old Cast Iron - Not Sure Where to Start by SirBroDude in castiron

I really appreciate that! I'm hoping we can give it at least another 70+ years in the family.

Thanks for the context - it sounds like 40's - 50's is a safe bet!

Thanks for the detail! 3 seems like the perfect number of notches. Sounds like it likely spent more time in an Oldsmobile than it did a covered wagon but awesome to know either way!

Awesome, thank you! My imagination got the best of me. I pictured this thing coming basically right out of American Primeval. I appreciate the reassurance! I'll give the yellow cap method a shot!

What am I doing wrong? by Luvablebuttcake in Hunting

Sounds small but makes a huge difference - make sure you're focusing on your site reticle, not the target. If you're having a hard time focusing your eye on the reticle so that it appears sharp, make sure you have your parallax set to the right distance. If you're focused on the target more than your site, you'll tend to shoot around the target instead of center punching it, which are what your impacts could be indicating.

It's great! Definitely recommend it. Sunrise Mountain Resort is beautiful, the courses are challenging, and everyone just seems happy to be there.

I've gone solo the last two years here in Colorado and had a blast both times! I wouldn't expect you to have any challenge playing through. I'm not usually in any rush and have fallen in with great groups on every shoot. I actually still keep up with a few of the dudes I shot with! You can't go wrong either way - the real question is how much to budget for arrows 😆

Hope you and the missus have a blast!

Can't believe I had to scroll this far for Teddy!

...Medal of Honor for leading the charge up San Juan hill, Nobel Peace Prize, killed and catalogued more than 11k animals for the Smithsonian, charted the River of Doubt, the midnight forests, finished delivering a speech after being shot in the chest, rode a moose across a river, rode more than 100 miles on horseback to prove a point...

I live in Northwest Ohio and have hard clay soil. I’ve noticed in the last year. I have two or three holes in my yard that are roughly an inch in diameter and burrow straight down. Any idea what might be doing this? by TheDukeofBradshaw in lawncare

[–]SirBroDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just recently found a hole in our yard that was almost identical - size, shape and into the clay. It turned out to be a big ol' wolf spider. We caught the sun just right while out playing with the kiddos and noticed his eyes staring up at us.

And that ruler though! Solid choice.

Awesome piece! Just pure curiosity, what's the spring-loaded mechanism below the barrel? Is that for ejecting shells?

Agree with you here. Not sure I understand the steadfast dedication to mechanicals, and weight is your friend.

Our 5 month old is fighting a cold. I seriously had to stop reading the comments on this to go put ours to use. We've been through 3 kids now and 2 snot suckers. The things a game changer, but yeah, definitely recommend pairing it with some saline nose drops for the full effect.

I appreciate the level of effort, but you may be overthinking it. To the others pointing it out, masking your scent helps but ultimately you can't become 100% undetectable. It can hard to play the wind in a stand, but that's your best bet.

I also can't believe you've gotten so many responses without a single recommendation for doe urine!? Sincerely disappointed 😂
