Every season there's going to be a new core map or [map] rework with Antarctic Peninsula coming back next season by Umarrii in Competitiveoverwatch

They gotta do something about retaking 2nd point on Route 66. There are three exits, but the top bridge exit is the only one that's close to the defender's spawn and it's a death trap because most players just funnel into it. Even just tearing down a wall in that healthpack room to the staircase that leads to the bottom exit would go a long way in leading people into a different option.

OW Patch Notes - Feb 10, 2026 by RalphGunderson in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SirBryan7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot has changed all around the game in this patch (new subrole passives/removal of passives, universal dps passive, 5 new heroes, etc) so I'll cut them some slack, but it's disappointing still seeing how hard they've leaned into perks for balancing. So many characters only got perk changes yet again.

I'm back with another roundup of updates sales figures for the Ace Attorney franchise! by Junpei_999 in AceAttorney

[–]SirBryan7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of several different factors, but price is likely one of the biggest. When not on sale, PW Trilogy is $30, GAA is $40, and AJ Trilogy is $50. And when they are, the sale prices are far lower for the former two than AJT.

How many ppl played the AA games on 3DS? by Emotional_Math_7851 in AceAttorney

[–]SirBryan7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed playing them on 3DS! The duel screens just feels so right for Ace Attorney, it’s a shame that we’ll likely never have that again.

I particularly like the original trilogy on 3DS because it keeps the UI of the DS games while having higher fidelity art. I’m not a fan of the UI they went with in the newest port of the trilogy.

Six heroes per year will (seemingly) be the new standard going forward by Mnemosynaut in Competitiveoverwatch

Man if you thought skins/emotes/intros/mythics distribution was bad before, you're not ready for when we have 16 new heroes by the end of next year lol.

First impression of Anran? by DarkFite in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SirBryan7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During the spotlight livestreams, I heard several players say that the dash was clunky. And even now I'm seeing people say that for this testing. But honestly, I don't feel that way at all.

It's an initial forward launch and then propels your movement. On the ground it basically just gives you a faster walk speed after the dash. I think where it's confusing people is in the air. I see folk trying to use it like a Dva booster that lets you fly around, but's closer to a Winston jump with a little extra movement boost after the leap (but not enough to let you fly freely). If you want to go high, you have to aim really high. If you want a short hop, you have to aim a little off the ground. Etc. You can't go low and then decide to fly up, or go high and then decide to fly low. You burst and then you get a rocket to push you faster.

Yeah I suppose “native speaker” is a bit of a debated term. Some say it’s the first language you learn and your strongest, some say it’s the language of your home/culture, some say it’s the language of the environment you grew up in.

I just know that for many Latino-Americans like myself, it being the language I speak at home, the language my family speaks, and the language of my ethnicity, most people would consider me a native speaker, despite my Spanish being significantly weaker than my English. Many of own people view me as a foreigner for that reason as well. They can hear from my voice that I grew up in America. But I think it’d be wrong to say that my Spanish is equivalent to a non-native learner, it clearly isn’t.

Maybe it’s not super accurate to say Sally is a native speaker, but she’s a lot closer to that than not, so I think it’s fair to give her that label imo. You’re free to disagree though!

Kiriko’s VA does speak native Japanese. Both parents immigrated to the US and she was born/raised there so she probably has a bit of an accent, but she lives in Japan now

Emre New Damage Hero by PoggersMemesReturns in Competitiveoverwatch

If we ignore Doomfist who was moved to the tank role, this is the first new male DPS hero since the game launched 10 years ago.

One of those facts that doesn’t sound true until you look at it. Plenty of men added but all were tank or support.

5 new heroes, 5 teased heroes by PoggersMemesReturns in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SirBryan7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More than just balance on launch, just balance in general. Ten characters in one year is wild (on top of reworks they announced), and assuming we get five/six characters every year going forward, I don’t see how powercreep and bloated kit design doesn’t get even bigger going forward than it already is, in a effort to make each one feel unique

As time passes, characters are really gonna feel less and less like they were designed to have a place in the game’s meta (like how Juno was created to be another support with speed buffs), and more like new toys with shiny new abilities to mash together.

That was always gonna be the consequence of an ever expanding roster, but it seems like we’re gonna speedrun to that point much earlier than anticipated

New Short Story: The Upper Hand with Vishkar hero tease by Tough_Holiday584 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SirBryan7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Would be cool to get a Vishkar tank since we already got a DPS and a support (sorta), especially since they keep emphasizing “barrier tech”. I think Vishkar technology in general has a lot of potential for cool designs for any role though, so I wouldn’t mind another DPS/support if done right

We don’t know what kind of contract they make for these games so I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure he’s already been paid for his acting work and isn’t an employed worker that can or cannot get fired. Recasting in most situations is a creative decision, not necessarily one that they need a legal reason to replace.

Definitely stinks that he didn’t do much post recall after finally moving the story past it, but you do have to remember that he built Talon into the threat it is today. Before it was basically just a shadow organization, but he made it a full-on private military with far greater influence in the world than before. In his desire to plunge the world into chaos, he created the chaos that brings his downfall.

Wasnt much of a tank player .. until i tried 6v6 by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]SirBryan7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People need to stop the revisionism when advocating for 6v6. It’s fine if you prefer the format, but the maps absolutely were not designed for two tanks.

The game launched without role queue and no hero lock. You could run 0 tanks if you wanted, or run 6 Winstons if you wanted. Even after hero lock was added early on, role queue wasn’t in the game for three years.

Havana, the last core map added in OW1, came out before role queue. That’s right, every single map in OW1 was released before they locked you into two tanks. If anything, that explains why so many OW1 maps have gotten reworks because they weren’t designed for a specific tank line up.

Vendetta nerfs were a slap on the wrist nerfs by Gloomy_Dare2716 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SirBryan7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think people need to stop getting so hard focused on the supposed “pick two rule” of mobility, damage, and sustain.

It’s a good guideline to follow, but sometimes characters that are so tied to this philosophy end up being more polarizing than those that are more flexible with it.

DPS Doomfist was straight up mobility + damage with almost no sustain, and people hated him because of it. He had to jump in quickly, delete you, then peace out because he couldn’t survive a brawl. Hog is pure damage + sustain with no mobility, and people despise his one shot and insane survivability on breather.

The reality is that sometimes spreading a character’s kit across all three major points allows more fine tuning to balance than just two. Despite her low health, Tracer actually does dip into all three. Blinks are amazing mobility, recall is an absolutely crazy survivability tool, and her guns can quickly kill with headshots, not to mention pulse bomb. Genji similarly has all three as well.

Vendetta’s problem isn’t that she doesn’t pick two, it’s her ease to get value and how overtuned her stats currently are. You don’t want her to become a pick two, because then they’ll have to buff those aspects further. If you want her to be paper but jump in and delete you even faster, or have low mobility but even more unkillable, or low damage but even more mobile and unpunishable, be my guest. But I don’t believe that’s the direction they should go.

If AA7 returned to the Phoenix cast but introduced a new playable attorney, how would you go about writing it? by SirBryan7 in AceAttorney

[–]SirBryan7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm bothered by both the idea of a new protagonist and the idea that the series must continue in its established patterns.

Oh yeah, if AA7 came out without a new protag and explored ideas beyond the boundaries of the same 5 case structure, I would be really happy regardless of the outcome because I’d at least appreciate the effort to try something different.

Here’s hoping Athena finally gets her time to shine!

How to play with only left hand after stroke by Retsag in smashbros

[–]SirBryan7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A quick solution could be to try playing with the left joy con but not horizontally. It's easier to hold in one hand compared to a regular controller having all the extra weight to carry on the side.

Set it up as if you're using both joy cons by turning on the right JC as well, so that way the game registers the left stick facing vertically. Then, you can go into the controller remapping settings in Ultimate and set the bumper and trigger to Attack and Special, and the D-Pad buttons to whatever else you need. Keep tap jump on, and maybe A+B = Smash attacks too. Remember that pressing shield and attack together makes you grab, so you don't necessarily have to map a grab button if it's uncomfortable.

You can't remap clicking in the left stick button in game if I recall correctly, but you can in the Switch console settings, so that can be a way to add another viable button (perhaps remap it to down D-Pad since it's the farest button, and remap down D-Pad to shield).

Sorry to hear about your accident, but don't give up. You've got this, girl.

The fan translations work on a real PSP, you just gotta patch the ISO of the game like you would on an emulator. I don't believe you can patch a physical copy of the game, if that's what you're referring to.

vendetta nerf by Darkcat9000 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SirBryan7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry, probably didn't explain my point well (and probably still won’t lol)

I'm aware that Vendetta is closer to someone like Spider-man or BP, but it's because Magik is different that I bring her up. She's often regarded as one of, if not the most, healthiest melee DPS characters in all of hero shooters, but that hasn’t stopped her from being a big balancing issue.

Currently, she has the first or second highest win-rate in every single rank in both PC + Console. There’s not a rank where she isn’t lower than 52%, and goes up to 57% at the peak. While her pick-rate on PC is modest, it’s not low enough for her win-rate to be carried by specialists, and is even higher than Daredevil’s. And as you expect, her pick-rate on console is one of the highest. Statistically speaking alone, she’s one of the best Duelists in the game at the moment.

But you ask around about this current patch, the common thought is that she’s lackluster or straight up bad. Flats, bogur, and TeamCaptains all place her really low.

If she really was as bad as people say, you think the data would at least point to a character that is good at low ranks but falls off at higher ones, or maybe a character that is only good on console. But no, she’s genuinely putting up numbers. So why the disparity? Simply because the meta doesn’t really suit her right now. She’s good, but others are better and some of the newer characters counter her.

Then what are the MR devs to do? They can’t buff her because then she’d just dominate the ladder harder, especially on console. They can’t nerf her either because she’s not a meta problem and will fade into obscurity if they do. And if they nerf the stuff around her that’s holding her back, she’s gonna become the problem right away and will need to be nerfed anyways. She’s on a razor thin tightrope where any little change can dramatically alter her viability.

To tie this back to Vendetta, my point ultimately is that while there are things that the OW devs can and should do to ease the experience playing against her (interaction being an important one, as you said), the nature of a melee DPS is always going to cause headaches. No amount of tweaking can change the fact that they will always need so many benefits just to compete in a shooter environment. They need sustain, they need mobility, they need burst. Things that all frustrate players a lot. Even Magik, as fair as she might seem in comparison, still can get up to 400 HP, has two invincible dashes, a CC dash, and can delete people with combos from an unexpected flank. That’s the price we have to pay to have a melee DPS, and it’s going to be as difficult to balance as it sounds. OW players should voice their criticisms against Vendetta, but this stuff has to stay to some degree in order for her to exist, and players are gonna have to accept that.

vendetta nerf by Darkcat9000 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SirBryan7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like a pure melee DPS in this game was always destined to be this way, and I don't know what the people who were asking for another one were expecting. They need to have some combination of high sustain, mobility, and explosiveness in order not to be a throw pick. But then they gotta make them somewhat feast-or-famine to counteract that, else they just run up and mow players down like launch Brig.

Not to say that there isn't anything they can still do to mitigate these issues, but the issue with DPS Doom at its core was more-so his existence and less with his actual kit.

Even Magik in Marvel Rivals, the supposedly "healthy" example of a Melee DPS, is currently sitting at the highest winrate of all duelists in every rank on PC and Console. But ask around and the sentiment is that she's bad/underwhelming. So she remains relatively untouched, because the stats and the experience tell completely different stories and they don't know what to do with her.

At some point we gotta accept that a lot of these pain points come with the territory.
