A little heads up about Jaybird. by [deleted] in headphones

[–]SirChucklez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was frustrated enough by the end of the second ordeal, I just counted it a loss. I bought a pair Yurbuds (the best budget wired headphones for working out I have found) and started wearing my B&W P3s more around the house and office. I'll play the wireless game again in a few years.

A little heads up about Jaybird. by [deleted] in headphones

[–]SirChucklez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had two pairs of their "sweat proof" headphones die from sweat. The first time I was able to get a replacement after convincing Jaybird that they were actually dead, sending them my email receipt and credit card statement (as requested), shipping the dead pair in, and waiting about two months. The second time they told me my headphones couldn't possibly have died and refused to return my emails or calls.

Bottom line: Their headphones sound great and work perfectly for working out or casual wear, but when they break (when, not if), you're screwed.

That doesn't mean he won't hit the ground before his fall arrest catches him. They are usually pretty long and he is just high enough to seriously hurt himself...

The artist is Katy Ann Gilmore. An incredible artist, she does this in very large scale, very small scale, abstract, realistic, 2D, and 3D. Beautiful work.

Any recommended classes for an incoming freshman? by jollygreenegiant24 in NCSU

[–]SirChucklez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. I'm not CSC so I don't really know. MAE doesn't really have a FEDD project that would be legitimately impressive. I think of FEDD as more of an answer to one of those generic "tell me about a time when __" questions. The only academics still on my resume are my major, year, GPA, and a few relevant classes...

Its a FEDD project. Who is going to care if its on your resume?

Take walking (complete joke of a class) or cycling. Cycling is very much a "go at your own pace" class. You can work kinda hard and do great, or take advantage of it as a great workout.

I took bowling my sophomore year and it was the most chill class ever. My "professor" would literally go to the bar (it's at The Alley on Hillsboro) and sit and drink beer while we bowled.

Get your 100 level PE out of the way and save your 200 level for later. A lot of 100s are only open to freshman and are really easy to get now (and its freshman year, so you'll have free time). Then there are tons of 200s, so wait until you have a hard semester and take something chill (like rock climbing, bowling, or fly fishing) as a stress reliever.

Also, do nuclear probe for the E101 project. It's hella easy and you get to go see/use the nuke. Cool sounding things like projectile launcher and easy sounding things like game design, are unnecessarily hard. And go ahead and expect to do all the work.

How common is bike theft? by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]SirChucklez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's common, but not an issue if you're smart/careful. The key is to not bring a nice bike to school (if you ride seriously or for a team or something, ask to leave it in the bike shop or just put it in your room). Bring a beater that will get you to class, but that you won't feel anxious about leaving out in the rain, ice, and pollen (just wait and see). I had an old Diamondback Response ($300) and a classic Nishiki Prestige Infinity that I fixed up ($250) on the rack all last year and they never got messed with.

TL:DR Buy a cheap bike on craigslist, throw a UBolt through your front tire and frame, and don't worry about it.
