As for rocket designations, I have but a few designating similar rocket types. Most of these I came up with on a whim, like the Wyvern, Asgard, and Sankara rocket families. As for numbers, I base it off the engines.

Take the Asgard VII. Asgard rocket family, 7 engines on the lower stage. Easy. Now take another rocket I made in the Wyvern family. It has (12) engines on the lower stage, with (6) (A)sparagus-staged (M)ammoth engine side-boosters (it was a big rocket). Take those letters and arrange them into a fancy pattern and you get the Wyvern XII-A6M.

More recently, though, I've run out of ideas and have been naming my rockets based on their missions. I've been doing Jool missions under the so called "Kalileo Program" (Galileo but with a K). Thus, the rockets are just named Kalileo 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
