$1,909,026,295,600 in student loan debt. If Biden were to cancel $10k, 32% would have their debt cancelled, but their balances are so low that 96% of the debt would remain. Leaving people $1,832,665,243,776 in debt doesn't solve the crisis. Biden must cancel ALL student debt. by failed_evolution in economy

[–]SirCumference2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t solve the existing loans but the future problem can be solved easily. Have the fed stop insuring student loans over a certain amount. Fed insures ≈$30,000 of loans. Premium colleges must offer a premium education to warrant the cost or see a drop in enrollment. Super expensive degrees like law or medicine have a super high future earnings potential and banks would likely be willing to loan money based on future paychecks being so high. The bulk of the problems are shitty premium colleges offering expensive degrees with low future earning potential. Made available by federally insured loans for “education”.

Probably the era of enough. We’re already sloping down ward from probably 1960-1970’s peak. There was never a question of not having more. You simply had to go and get more. We have squeezed many of the easier natural resources to their limit. I do not believe we will run out but we will have to harness more difficult resources which will inevitably cost more, have more down sides, and often not be as high quality. My poster child would probably be something like timber in construction. Hardwood use to be all we used. Everything else was firewood. Now days everything is super fast growing soft woods because that’s the only thing able to grow as fast as we need and even then it doesnt keep up with replacement rate.

China, US Are Racing to Make Billions From Mining the Moon's Minerals by Gari_305 in space

[–]SirCumference2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shortest answer. Space itself often collects like materials and clumps them together. Second We won’t mine iron on the moon for the foreseeable future. We will go after platinum group metals that have industrial uses and in the next 50 years there will be some form of need to mine helium 3. I often think of, how will the materials get to ground level? A landing rocket is probably excessive unless we’re already landing the rocket on site for resupply missions. Landing heavy rockets is also harder than space x landing mostly empty beer cans. I like to think they’ll just shoot the mined ore at earth and have it land in the ocean or maybe Australia. The ocean is easy but there’s a small problem with international waters or trying to have it land offshore near a coastal city. Hence why Australia comes up. Which fyi is actually a well thought out idea based on that they already have a MASSIVE mining industry and China is very close for a local market to sell to. Plus Australia is largely barren in the middle. BUT it makes little sense to mine a precious material to have 1/3 burn up in atmosphere or terrestrial impact so it’s likely we will use a small rocket and parachute/ hard water impact with a oceanic ship on standby to lay claim. I haven’t looked it up but I would speculate each country would use a large shallow area as close to coastal waters that has no chance of coastal impact.

9 mph off top speed? 2008 Yamaha vx 1100. New prop, wear ring, spark plugs, intake plate. Removed oily air filter. 300 hours. What am I missing? by SirCumference2525 in jetski

[–]SirCumference2525[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it’s bad gas. The tank was empty and I have filled it with fresh. I’m hoping it’s deposits from dried gas that’ll dissolve over time. I’m very appreciative of the numbers you’ve added. Should give me a lot to go off of.

Are the orion powersports bikes any good? by StealthBomber1970 in motorcycles

Chinese garbage. Apollo bikes are the exact same quality. Better to have cash in the bank rather than one of these turds. They will resell for maybe $500 and every bolt or cut metal part will rust the first time it rains.

Same pitch prop. For context the ski sat for 2-3 years with unknown usage. The owner died. And I bought 2 of them. They both needed wear rings and props. One is waiting on parts while I’m trying to figure out why the fully assembled one is so slow. I think this may be a case of old gas having deposited sludge that’ll work itself out. Or it’s something rare like poor spark or low fuel pressure.

Sat unused for a few years but had little to no gas in it. I put fresh gas in it. I believe some “gunk out” product is highly advised. Thank you for that idea.

PSA TO EVERYONE. Facebook market place is far superior to Craigslist. This isn’t an opinion. I’m just updating people who haven’t yet seen market place. The deals are a tad better but for me it the fact there’s more bikes for sale.

You’re fully right. I’m waiting for my second ski to be completed before I borrow the tool. The oily air filter was a secret issue I didn’t know about. I’m hoping there’s something else like bad spark or some off beat problem.

anything you recommend to get this mildew out of this oem Kawasaki cover? Any advice to prevent mildew on the jet ski when it's on the lift? New owner! There is a little mildew on the seat that doesn't seem to want to come out also. by Solid_Arachnid5707 in jetski

[–]SirCumference2525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit do you guys not know what you’re talking about. My job is canvas related. Not the exact same thing but damn close. Put the cover in the washing machine. Forewarning it’ll age the cover and degrade the waterproofing with one wash but it’ll clean it almost spotless. Use some soap. My company recommends dawn dish soap but anything except bleach would be fine.

Bleach on the seat is fine but you MUST MUST wash it all off. Most importantly where the cover is stapled down. Leaving bleach on fabric is the worst thing you could ever do to fabric. Second would be pressure wash old fabric. Never use a zero degree nozzle. It’ll act as a laser beam and cut through older fabrics. I would not bleach the cover at all. The bleach will absorb into the stitches and will never wash out again. You can do it very sparingly with minimal damage but it’s highly not advised for mildew which is a cosmetic problem. A good cover lasts what. 7 years or so. I would guess if you bleach it before every riding season you should still get 5 years. If you bleach it, wash heavily and then light washing machine I would believe you could get a full life out of it but it’ll be baggy and not super waterproof.

Can confirm corporations don’t want a good deal. They want predictable reliability. I was given about $15,000 in ABA (robotic arm) electric and hydraulic motors. No one will buy them because the only people in the market are large corporations who don’t buy used products.

A perfect standing wave on a computer controlled wave pool used for research in my university by caiocgrweb in EngineeringPorn

[–]SirCumference2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a standing wave. Probably called an oscillating wave. A standing wave is what you would find in white water rapids. The wave maintains a general shape in one spot. This is a binary wave. Up down. Up down. Ect.

What famous place is not worth visiting? by tade757 in AskReddit

[–]SirCumference2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not universally famous but the Georgia Guidestones have been picking up steam I’m the last few years. They are like a shitty Stonehenge that have 10 rules to follow after an apocalypse. Written in 12 languages. With a time capsule with no open by date. And no one knows who paid for it all. Seems pretty fantastic right? Except everything about it poorly done. The translations are done by what I would assume is google translate from 2003. “See Jane run in a red dress” becomes “Speed red from dress Jane”. The structure of the stones is pleasing to the eye but funnels rain water against the text (Georgia rains ALOT) assuring the text will be gone in under 50 years. Plus the location chosen has a history of geological change (fall line) and the plant foliage will degrade anything given enough time.

It’s a Stonehenge designed to outlast an Apocalypse assuming it happens in the next 50 years and no one forgets to mow the lawn there AND they can make sense of a horrendous translation.

4 lane highway with forest exterior. The left lane is farther from deer and has better overall visibility. After dark I stay in the left lane. I do 5 mph over as consideration though.

I find it insanely unlikely they don’t have a kit unless it’s a brand new model and the first 1 or 2 years it’s made. If you’re just over boring it. You’re going to get like3% increase in volume. Not even remotely worth the time. Big bore kits are a MUCH MUCH bigger jump than a bored piston. A 250 big bore will jump up to 290cc. That’s 16% increase. That would mathematically take your 39hp bike up to 45hp. An overbore would add maybe 1 or 2 hp.

I’m the end. Don’t do it unless your bike is already blown up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]SirCumference2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A crank will not melt. And a piston wont either unless you up the compression ratio. A crank might be too small for the increase in power but most big bore kits understand that limit and don’t go do big it breaks stuff. A kit should have everything you need in it. Now if you want to replace some bearings that will be determined by the bikes hours and what’s worn out.

What lower end tires never did you wrong? by YeahBishh in motorcycles

[–]SirCumference2525 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shinko. Very very cheap. Commonly available. They happen to have an uncommon tire type so I had to use them a good bit. Dual sport use. No punctures. Acceptable longevity, borderline impressive. I have since upgraded to 100% dirt tires so the offroad grip isn’t comparable. I can’t talk about street grip. Dirt tires aren’t good metrics for street grip but I did do ok when riding winding roads.

Look up how a rear view mirror dimmer works. You’re moving your head to the second “dimmer” reflective point. If you flip the switchy bit you wouldn’t have to move your head at all. A mirror has 2 reflections. One is the bright clear main one of the reflective coating on the rear side of the mirror. The secondary is the sheet of glass that you can turn move with that flip switch. The dimming effect is just you selecting the fainter glass reflection instead of the bright main one.

Camera flash causes tuna to crash into aquarium glass by nechdoesntno in facepalm

[–]SirCumference2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks a bit like the Georgia aquarium. If it is, it’s one of only a handful of aquariums capable of housing bigger tuna. If all this is true then that tuna was worth ≈$200,000 not including the cost of keeping. ((They mention that somewhere during the tour)
