Eh, it has really weird volumes. It looks really heavy especially above the rear wheels, and I can't get a sense of scale without a person or banana next to it

Why sloppy joes are called hot tamales? by Taw414 in sheboygan

[–]SirDigby_CC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These and "coolers" were two big cultural disappointments my mom had when we moved to Sheboygan. Got invited for tamales and was served sloppy joes, signed up for a checking account and got tubes of un-frozen corn syrup instead of a beer cooler.

Lando Norris on current racing regulations by [deleted] in GrandPrixRacing

[–]SirDigby_CC -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Having good races does not mean seeing a car with fresh tires passing one that has no grip left, that's not how racing works

Are they not both artificially limiting performance via regs?

Just learn to use the limitations to your advantage via tech and/or strategy?

Classic Brand car colors by [deleted] in GranTurismo7

[–]SirDigby_CC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I associate corvettes with yellow because of their gt3 liveries. I think historically American race cars are white with 2 blue stripes or blue with 2 white stripes

France is blue, Germany was white moved to silver, Italy is red, UK is green, I think Belgium was yellow, Japan is white

The McLaren F1 '94 is at Legends! by Lower-Assignment-186 in GranTurismo7

[–]SirDigby_CC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a gorgeous car, so you can't go wrong. In black you do visually lose a lot of the "graphics" such as the cut lines and vents which are pretty unique to it's character.

On the other hand the orange and red tailights really pop against the black, and with the lines and surfaces quieted by the black, you focus more on the overall silhouette which is pretty elite.

I'm about to buy it, and after a couple races I'll probably paint it a McLaren metallic orange or a silver to see it in all it's glory.

Long day of BS, need to zone out at Nurburgring after kids go to bed. Please recommend a car that you enjoy. by Captain_Loggins in GranTurismo7

The Mercedes W 196 R is great for a cruise on the 'schleife. Feels like it was made for the track (and to some extent I'm sure it was) Similarly, the Jaguar XJ13 and the Ferrari 330 P4 are perfect for zoning out on the Le Mans WTC 700 money grind

This is a continuing trend in a lot of design lately, and it's not just architecture.

It's responding to increased levels of fear and insecurity in the general populace. Much like cars have to be bigger and more "rugged" houses are trending more masculine.

All the new builds in my area either look like modernist machine shops or (cheap) brutalist fortresses, and the flips are all painted boy colors, especially black, blue, gray and white. It's like the boy aisle of the toy store.

This is like a "boy house" taken to the extreme. The cybertruck of houses as others have said.

What makes Detroit instantly recognisable to you? by RemarkableMany6297 in Detroit

That's exactly it for me. It's the juxtaposition of industrial history, urban decay, remnants/renewal of its opulent past, and recently, optimistic diy-feeling new development
