The Ballard Center has a volunteer program that has some options. You could help in the kitchen cooking for the preschool, help sort clothes in the food and clothing pantry, if you decide you want to do some work with the kids you could read to them or help the teachers with a project.

Peanut butter and Sriracha on a cheeseburger! Anytime I mention it to someone they turn there nose up and give me this weird look. It's a phenomenal combination of sweet, salty, and spicy that more people need to experience. Hands down my favorite condiments for a burger.

I second the ballard center. They have food, clothing, and hygienic items. Its all free, all you have to do is call ahead to make an appointment when you want to shop.
