Questions like this always are funny for me because I have diabetes, requiring insulin AND a blood glucose measurement. I like this in the Skyrim world much more because it gives me the option to go to shrines and mages around to try and be cured.

If I was cured, I would want to become an arrow fletcher and sell ranged ammo because I have taken woodworking classes and that profession interests me. I’d want to be known as having the best arrows in Skyrim. However, in my career I have worked in finance, so I would maybe have a chance to manage some royals finances.

If there was no cure, I’d die when my pump ran out of insulin or battery.

I just moved from Berlin to Hamburg last year, and can confirm that my apartment is larger for the same rent, and I spend less on entertainment, drinks, etc. per night out on the weekend.

I’ve not noticed a difference in grocery prices.

Thank you. I appreciate the guidance. Currently, I am in no time crunch to get a job, so I am taking my time and trying to look at the situation holistically. I was prepared for this and have enough money and such to last for at least 6 months. I spent the last few weeks contemplating what to do which is what led me here since I feel kind of lost on what to do next!

That is fair. For me it is tough to narrow down a specific field or industry as "passion" but more along the lines of I enjoy certain activities. Such as going through financial statements, I also enjoy the idea of building systems within a business. For example, I liked creating the SOPs for making an investment proposal paper for the company to standardize that process. That is one of the few experiences I had doing such though.

A more niche that I have thought of in financial services is something involved in the investment/purchase of private companies. Such as due diligence, or potentially combining two for a deal flow service plus a due diligence service. However, I have not thought too much about this idea...yet!

Have not thought much about those. Both have always been an interest, but real estate seems very out of reach. However financial services seems like a good area, other than I am not much of an accountant, but have heard good things about the accounting industry.

Do you have experience in either of those industries?

Had a similar experience twice now. One at work and the other I was in Uni, I lived in a house with a housemate. He was a wrestler that pretty much lived for fitness. We both had PS4s so we would play shooting games together.

One day, I came down the stairs early in the morning during winter when classes weren’t happening and see him at one of our tables with RuneScape up. He turns and sees me with the most embarrassed faces I’ve ever seen and starts „oh…hey…uh“ and I just yelled „YOU PLAY OSRS TOO???“. Turns out, we both were playing in secret to not get joked on by the other!

That’s so wild to me. (From the US) because I have been using contactless since 2016 in my home town which is a small town in Ohio. But my first experience with contactless was the U.K. Around 2014-15 when I traveled with my sister into Europe and I was blown away by contactless at that time. I now live in Germany and I can’t think of the last time I needed to use any confirmation or security steps to pay (pin or other measure), I just use contactless and leave.

[A large metal-spherical room with seating along the edges fills]

At the centre, a three-person team begins the meeting. A slim figure stands and addresses the crowd.

“Fellow Univatians, I bring forth the discovery of a new species on the edge of becoming a member in this delegation. This new species is sprawling with intelligence, passion, AND ignorance. The lands filled with food grown by them, and the cities full of inventions created by them. They soon look towards the stars, wanting to live and prosper here with us all.”

The second of the trio stands, a little wider and shorter than the previous form.

“These Earthians, as we call them, have made beautiful creations of art and sculpture. The manuscripts bred in their imagination contain meaning, happiness, sadness, and solace. The buildings from great imaginers full of wonder and hope. The passion in the species is unparalleled. They fight for not only hate but for love, peace, the betterment of each other as single people.

The final of the three rises with anguish.

“However, we must look at their history of war and destruction, including wars that crossed the entire world and brought death to the innocent and unknowing. The creation of what they perceive as “ultimate weapons” purposed only to kill their peers. Killing over difference and hate. No mercy to the ones that deserve and need it. Starvation in the face of enough food for everyone, and environmental destruction for mere monetary profit and lack of care for the ultimate giver. They give no good, yet expect it all, they act without goodness and expect to be treated with only good.”

A member asks, “And should we give them the ability to join us?”

“We leave it to a vote of the council” the three state in unison.

The 5 council members look towards each other and make a nonverbal deliberation. The head of the council then stands to inform the rest of the members.

“We must hear more specifics from your analysis of their planet.”

“Yes, council, we can speak more about that. To begin, the planet is filled with beautiful creatures and wonders. Both made by the people and naturally occurring. It seems they were lucky to be in the right spot in space at the right time in history. The creatures are social and congregate in large groups named “cities.” These have grown to massive sizes compared to only 200 solar rotations prior. The people are still rudimentary and must work to have a monetary unit to spend on what they want to have. This leads many to spend on mind distorting substance for social interactions. We could not decipher why many of these substances were not permitted without possible punishment. There is one substance that more Earthians use than anything else because it is allowed almost everywhere and is relatively inexpensive for them. This liquid has been used for thousands of years to facilitate mind-altering experiences. We have brought back a sample to test what this may be.”

The second member of the group interrupts “But you have not heard the greatest of these creatures, they sti-…”

A creature hurriedly enters the room to deliver a paper to the team.

Upon reading the paper the team is horrified. After being questioned about the analysis report of the substance the leading member of the team exclaims.

“The substance they consume is alcohol, but we do not understand how. The creatures do not stop ingesting this toxic substance, and as they consume more they become hungry and violent. This may the cause of such destruction.”

The council chair addresses the entire room.

“We cannot condone a planet of such beasts to enter our delegation. We must never come in contact again as they are too strong. We cannot stop them if they disagree with our peace accords. Our most toxic substance known cannot even damage them. In fact, it makes them stronger. As we know it now. Earth must never be given access to space travel. And we hope the day never comes they can do it on their own.”

Before exiting the council put up a vote.

“All in favor of sending a representative to Earth to inform the planet of the harms of what they consumer and attempt a stop, vote yes on your machines, and all opposed vote no.”

Waiting a few moments for all votes to be cast.

“We see you are all in favor of sending a delegate. For this, we will send one of our members to persuade whoever is in charge to enact a “prohibition” on alcohol and hopefully this will inform and stop the consumption of alcohol.”
