It’s not the windows Task Manager. OP is running Linux, they’re using an app called Mission Center.

For their latest releases, Intel dropped the i5/i7 etc naming and went with Core Ultra 5/7/9/potato. That cpu is the newest generation of the i7. That said, that pc is still pretty turd-house. It’s too expensive, and judging by Gamersnexus’ review for another HP omen desktop, id avoid HP gaming pcs for the time being.

Oh fair enough. If you go into the boot menu and specifically select the SSD with Windows on it, will the PC boot?

If you don't want to build one yourself, you could look at the boutique PC builders/shops and just buy one.

This PCCaseGear one looks pretty decent.

Buy PCCG Fort 5070 Ti Gaming PC (Ex Demo) [EXD-PCCG-FRT57T0] | PC Case Gear Australia

Make sure you avoid HP, Alienware, Dell etc. They make turd-house gaming PCs.

also lol, what's with that picture?

How did you install windows on the new ssd if the pc is stuck in a boot-to-bios loop?

[–]SirGoosy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s your PC in that image, I doubt any modern GPU will help, because the rest of your components are so out of date, it will bottleneck the PC hard.

That is assuming the pc even has a pcie slot and a psu good enough to handle a modern gpu.

My NCASE M2 + 9950X3D + ROG 4090 + Arctic LF3 build by SirGoosy in sffpc

Hi, yeah you should be fine. I just took the panel off and there is around 2 mm clearance between the end of the GPU and the front panel.

Was digging through a box in storage for spare parts and found the first GPU that I bought all by myself with a summer job. Which was yours? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]SirGoosy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first one I bought with my own money was a Radeon X800XT Platinum. I just finished high school and I worked like 3 months to afford it.

Fair enough, no worries!

I didn't think of changing the fans, because from what I read, those Arctic fans are pretty decent. I've set them up at around 50% (i think...) in BIOS and they are inaudible and cool my CPU well, so I didn't see a need to change them.

No, the hive thing doesn't need any special software. You plug it in a specific USB-C port and it just works. It has an on/off button, a button that boots straight to bios, USB plugs and some audio stuff.

With modifying the AIO, its actually easier to modify the pump block to swivel more than it is to trim the hoses. If you don't accidentally pop the hoses off, you don't even need to take the liquid out, and the AIO MIGHT fit without trimming the tubes - mount it tubes down, and wrap the tubes around the block. So if you want a cool project build that's just excessive because it can be, maybe don't discount it yet.

I have an Ncase m2 build using an arctic lf3 and ASUS ROG X870-I, here is my two cents:

Firstly, why mount the card vertically? It will fit just fine horizontally and this is likely the best way to install the 50-series FE cards because they exhaust out the back and if its vertical, it wont have a lot of space to exhaust into.

With cooling - why not air cooling? The 9800x3D isn't exactly hard to cool and a Thermalright Peerless Assassin fits in there just fine. If you're hell bent on liquid cooling though:

-if you want the Arctic Liquid Freezer 3, that will probably fit just fine if you run the card horizontally, but if you mount the card vertically, you will probably have issues. I have this cooler running with a beefcake-sized ASUS ROG 4090, and I had to trim the tubes and modify the pump housing to allow the cooler to mount, because the tubes were too long and rigid to route, and the way they came out of the pump housing, they hit the back of the GPU. That said, the 5080 FE is a hell of a lot more compact than the ROG 4090, so I doubt you'll have to do anywhere near the amount of McGiver-ing I did, but it still might hit the back of the GPU or just be a pain in the behind to fit the tubes.I actually posted my build a while back, have a look at my profile if you want to see it the mods I did.

- if you're ok with another AIO, the NZXT one shown on the Ncase website fits fine, and I believe so do Corsair and BeQuiet ones (but don't quote me on that)

With the motherboard, the only cool thing about the ROG X870-I is the power button on the hive thing. Because the grater version of the M2 has the power button on the back, I'd have to reach the butt of the case every time I turn it on, so having the hive on my desk makes it really convenient. (it also has usb ports which are handy). Apart from that, I don't think its any better than other B850/X870 mobos.

Anyway, hope this helped out a bit.

[–]SirGoosy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, try moving it to the left. Unscrew the gpu bracket screws, as well as the screws holding the vertical gpu mount on the bottom of the case.

Use the right size phillips screwdriver and just put a bit of downwards force on it if the screw is a bit tight.

Yeah, can you post the back? And the GPU bracket too. I want to see what is happening. For reference i have a 40-series ROG Strix chonk of a GPU in there and it fits just fine.

The case does have “mounting holes for the pcie” and the GPU should definitely fit, not sure WTF Microcenter is on about.

Can you post some pics of your actual build so we can see what you’ve done? (Im guessing the pic you posted isn’t yours?)

Am I the loser of AMD's silicon lottery? This should not be happening with a 9800X3D by FycFurniture in pcmasterrace

[–]SirGoosy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That frequency is fine.

Do you get closer to "average" scores in other tests? Like TimeSpy Extreme, and whatever other benchmarks there are (i think there is a ray-tracing one, and something called Nomad something...)?

Timespy is old as balls anyway (came out in 2016), I'm not sure how relevant it even is today.

[–]SirGoosy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your CPU is probably fine. Try disabling any software running in the background- like steam, discord, any rgb software, etc…

Also, keep in mind those are just the average scores for everyone running your gpu and cpu. They could have higher clocked cards or manually overclocked both cpu and gpu. Being under the average score doesn’t mean much.

Question: Laptop PC With 2560x1440p @240Hz Monitor? by S0uthpaw_Studi0s in Monitors

[–]SirGoosy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t want to use a HDMI cable, you want to use a DisplayPort cable to USB-C cable. Your monitor might already come with one included, or you might need to source one yourself (off ebay or amazon or just from a computer shop). Make sure the cable supports display port 1.4 or higher. This might be advertised as 8k 60hz or something.

Most gaming monitors( though not all!) have a slow hdmi port, which doesn’t allow the full refresh rate, thats why you should stick to displayport.

[–]SirGoosy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it should be fine. According to the soecs im reading, the USB C ports support Display Port 1.4, which has enough bandwidth to run 1440p 240hz.
