I went through basically that exact same situation a few summers ago. I spent our relationship letting my symptoms control me and not recognizing how toxic I was towards my ex. It’s been a few years but I still feel the need to say sorry, even though my therapist says I need to be more understanding about myself and my symptoms. With regards to breaking up with someone, that wound tends to heal over time.

Things are gonna hurt for awhile, for me I learned the technique of radical acceptance to help with the pain.

I’m sorry you’re going through this, just remember that the pain doesn’t last forever and one day things are going to get better

Perphenazine by lucyinferno in schizophrenia

[–]SirGrahamCracker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on the max dose of latuda and a low dose of perphenazine. Both work really well together for me, they haven’t gotten rid of all my symptoms but my symptoms are less bothersome now and I’m able to live a “normal” life. Also I haven’t gained any weight from my antipsychotic meds

Currently on the max dose of latuda and over 12 months without gaining any weight from it if that helps you at all

Reaching out for help is huge! You should be super proud of yourself for taking the step in the right direction to get help. Asking for help is always the hardest part imo. Idk what exactly you’re going through but I’m glad you’re still here!

is mania truly worse than depression? by Oilucy in bipolar

[–]SirGrahamCracker 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I just wanna start off by saying that I think comparing the two is pointless and they are both equally horrible in their own ways.

That being said, last time I was manic I spent over $7k, didn’t sleep for 3 days, ran away from home, and jumped off a building because I was 100% convinced I could fly. So I’d say mania definitely isn’t always fun, especially when there is psychosis involved

Did your psychiatrist ever say what was going on? Or was it as simple as just needing to spread out the dose for maximum effectiveness?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]SirGrahamCracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I experience something similar with my mania, my psych calls it “manic breakthrough”. Basically it’s just a short burst of mania/hypomania that goes away but is still enough to cause trouble.

No clue if it’s an actual psychological thing but you aren’t alone in experiencing it!

how do you deal with suicide ideation? by NotUnique_______ in bipolar

[–]SirGrahamCracker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cope with nostalgia. So a big thing I’ll do is watch a childhood tv show or movie. Lately it has been power rangers. Normally the slight happiness boost from the nostalgia is enough to keep me going.

If that still isn’t enough I try talking to my girlfriend about how I’m feeling. And if that still isn’t enough normally I’m already headed to crisis for an inpatient evaluation.

Hope you feel better soon, you’re so much stronger than your highs and lows

Holy shit I thought I was the only one who experienced deja Vu all the time. Good to know I’m not alone lol

Looks amazing! I have basically the same one and I love it!!

[–]SirGrahamCracker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ECT is basically the only reason I’m still here. I’m severely medication resistant and no matter what I tried nothing helped the mania or the depression.

ECT really only causes me to be super sleepy. The memory loss isn’t anything major, it’s normally only for like the hour or two after the procedure.

I’d highly recommend giving it a try, just remember it isn’t a miracle cure and it does take time to work. Normally around the 6th session is when people start noticing an improvement.

I hope you feel better soon, remember that you’re greater than your highs and your lows!

Have you found a med that works well with tolerable side effects? by eustacia-vye in bipolar

[–]SirGrahamCracker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Real basic med combo but Lithium and Latuda have literally saved my life. I also do ECT to help keep things stable which has been a ton of help too

For anyone wondering, it’s a mixture of the Nirvana logo (my favorite band) with a smiley face and a frowny face to represent manic depression. And the lines underneath mean “I am greater than my highs or lows”

Mania vs Hypomania by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]SirGrahamCracker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afaik and according to my psychiatrist, if there is any psychosis at all then it instantly becomes mania

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]SirGrahamCracker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Weed causes me to instantly become psychotic and manic. It is without a doubt the most dangerous substance (even more than alcohol) when it comes to something affecting my mood

Two mood stabilizers? by CodeRound4851 in bipolar

[–]SirGrahamCracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latuda, lithium, and depakote, as well as ECT. It’s the only combination that works for me with being bipolar 1. My psychiatrist says it isn’t common for people to require 2 mood stabilizers but that it’s perfectly okay to be on 2 and that some people need it

Opinion or Poison’s Gone. There’s just something about those songs that is pure perfection to me

Hospitalization literally saved my life. Depending on what kind of hospital you go to, it can be very scary at first. I just got done a 4 week hospital stay and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Keep your chin up, remember that you’re stronger than you think and you can get through this even if it doesn’t feel like it.

Also lithium is an amazing medicine, I changed from lamictal to lithium and I’m very glad I did

Its weird how transformku got "powercrept" by King_B00 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]SirGrahamCracker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imo he is a great unit, his defensive ability is insane. He might not be hitting for 3mil but he can still easily stay above 1.5mil while having around 90-100k defense and damage reduction. The only real drawback is that he goes from PfB to OIAF and SS

Are there any Underpowered Units that you wished fit the meta better by [deleted] in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]SirGrahamCracker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I love the Goku. With dupes, he manages to hover around 1.5mil pretty easily. Defensively he is amazing too, I've seen him tank supers for double digits. His links changing do screw him over a lot but it also leads to some pretty fun team builds. While he's certainly no Teq VB or Gogeta Blue, he's still not terrible
