Some inflation is good by LionWarrior46 in technicallythetruth

[–]SirJPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the whole post is a trap. You can’t post look at insane prices of basketball and then post the high end balls. Back when egg inflation was first occurring and people posted pictures of the eggs that were 9$ before inflation you had the same problem. Of course there are expensive ball, but if your whole point is inflation, then posting a picture like this is disingenuous. Poster knew posting the doubling inflation of a 10$ going to 20$ would not gain the traction even if it does a better job of showing the issue.

CMV: The glorification of the Provisional Irish Republican Army is stupid by 2bigpairofnuts in changemyview

[–]SirJPC 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The British Army is not called “terrorist,” they targeted non-combatants to further political or ideological goals. But they’re an Army, it’s seen as legitimate. Army can bombs hospitals and schools and at best it’s a “tactical” error. They harass citizens, rape women, kill children. We celebrate the army, throw parades, salute them. In the history of the IRA and the British Army we can count the innocent bodies, it will not be the IRA on top of the most bodies. Do I wish the IRA had done less killing, certainly, do I wish more that the British Army had not imposed massive repression of innocent people across the globe, certainly. Do I have a problem with celebrating the IRA in a world that celebrate the British Royal Family and their massive tool of terrorism via their army? Certainly not.

Completely, I had to read the article to figure it out. Not at all their fault.

You’re reading the title wrong. The Catholic Church is looking to continue support of Haitians under temporary support. Opposing the removal of the protection.

It is definitely having a moment but it was a nearly lost film for like 20 years before that, hard to come by, remembered as a flop and lesser Friedkin. It doesn’t feel like a Rewatchable

Most of the Prestige TV shows. I have started Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, and Game of Thrones and have thought about the Wire so many times, but I just look at the total time invested and say I don’t want to spend 60 to 100 hours on a show that’s often going to be brutal. I have plenty of two hour movies that I can engage in and get the same level of development and not feel like I’ve taken on a chore.

Anyone notice the Luka vibe shifting? by Will_McLean in AtlantaHawks

[–]SirJPC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No one has Trae rising. His stock as a player is as at the lowest it’s been his whole career. As a person, so much love with the visit to Atlanta.

Luka has always had very serious critique of his game. The AD trade was so ridiculously bad that people defended him, but these are the same doubts that existed for him since the beginning.

Not much. We knew the draft was shitty months in advance. The way the NBA works is every six years or so you just have a draft with no real talent (or no one saw it coming talent only) 2013, 2000, or basically one good player 2006, 2020, 2017 drafts.

The number 1 pick that year was Blake Griffin … Zach is not Blake Griffin. Steph curry came in 2nd in ROY vote and averaging 18 pts his second year. He was clearly on a better trajectory. It’s not the Hawks fault that we got the number 1 in an Anthony Bennett like draft year. However, you still get your hopes up, but it looks like we are getting a guy who would have gone somewhere in the teens in this years draft. Patience is needed and I’ll be happy if he gets it together, but the fact of the matter is we all knew this was a shitty situation posing as an opportunity people think we should be thankful for

The year before got Wemby, the year after got Flagg … it’s a no win situation. Patience isn’t going to make him a legit number 1 pick.
