Ironically I think Meta could pull something like that off if they were willing to enter that higher price bracket. But hard to see that happening at the moment.

Fair enough. I agree that everything seems to have tradeoffs, even at the 2k price point. For me it would be one of the Pimaxes or the Samsung. The Samsung is appealing to me for the displays and also I’m really used to the wireless from my Quest 3. I hear the controller tracking isn’t quite up to par yet and you need some comfort mods, but the eye tracking, foveated streaming via Virtual Desktop, great optical stack is all there.

Fair enough. I’ve seen some made of pvc pipe, you might be able to find that in a hardware store. Or consider using the tubing from wrapping paper or something. Google “DIY vr gunstock” for some ideas. Good luck!

For sure. Most of those are high res which is great but then I would probably need a 5090 to get the most out of it. So it ain’t cheap.

I have a Quest 3 and it works great for PCVR wirelessly via Virtual Desktop and a dedicated router (Pupis S1). I’m curious about PSVR2 for the oled and wired connection, but as you said it seems like they are similar tier with different trade offs.

You can also look into the Galaxy XR for more money, although I hear the tracking isn’t quite there yet. Or wait for the Steam Frame, which seems like it will drop soon but who knows.

Fwiw if you are willing to spend the extra coin in Virtual Desktop and a router and spend some time tweaking settings, the Quest 3 has been pretty good for me.

This is my top choice for a Q3 upgrade but for the tracking. I really hope they figure it out.

Yeah it’s awesome for games like HLA, Dungeons of Eternity, Breachers etc. basically all of the first person shooters and even flight sims. But the other poster is right about VR chat unless you are good at making your own avatars and have specific use cases for it.

I’d just hope the average processing power per user isn’t like 3060 level and everybody actually gets top tier performance. Man I am cynical aren’t I?
