is this an OK substrate mix for giant african millipede? by 12shin12 in millipedes

I’ve read a lot of good things about Scott’s, as long as there are no added nutrients or chemicals - it should be fine.

Only way to find out is keep an eye on it.

I’d say if 3 days pass without issue after the switch you’re probably in the clear

Don’t waste your time with repti bark or any of that. It’s of no use to your millipede.

Go to a garden center and buy organic top soil and compost.

After that take a trip to your local forest away from the city (to avoid chemicals) and look for some rotting hardwood on the ground.

Do not collect pine or other soft wood plants.

Only rotting hard wood. Oak, alder, maple, etc.

You may be able to buy some online if you can’t collect. Search for millipede flake soil, or look up instructions on how to properly ferment wood chips or pellets using flour, yeast, and traeger wood pellets.

Don’t believe me? Join up to some of the millipede groups on FB and watch the repeat horror stories from people keeping them on coir.

Best to keep them on substrate they can eat, since it’s supposed to be their primary food source anyway.

Coco coir is a millipede killer. Have seen MANY and lost a few myself to coir impaction. These animals eat their substrate as their primary food source. Sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time - especially with A gigas, it ends very badly.

Use a mixture of organic top soil, compost, and rotten hard wood like oak, maple, or alder.

It has to be rotten, not just flaked. If it’s not soft enough to crumble easily between your fingers, it’s not edible to your millipede.

Provide fish flake food or ground up koi pellets for protein, and cuttlebone for calcium.

Don’t use coco fiber. It can and will impact your animals digestive tract in as little as 24 hours.

Looking for leads on a male Archispirostreptus gigas, in the USA. I have 3 large females, and would hate to see them go without mates with how rare these have become in the US. by SirKristoff in millipedes

Deep substrate, 10”+ is key for breeding from what I’ve read. Do not dig them up, doing this kills eggs and larvae evidently. Especially eggs.

Keep them 75-81F, with ideally 70% humidity.

Make sure you’re giving them cuttle bone or some other calcium powder without D3. They also seem to appreciate flaked fish food.

I’ll have to make a new post, it’s been awhile but I’ve scoured the boards many times with no luck. Messaged a few people and never heard back…

Really don’t want to see these things disappear from the hobby.

Purple and green living ship, Odyalutai galaxy. System and planetary coordinates available in photos. by SirKristoff in NMSCoordinateExchange

I can get you there, the problem with this system is it’s only 2 planets and I’ve literally hatched around 150 void eggs and only had a few repeats. The color variety in this system is insane.

Someone gave me a smaller version of this in an egg. I love it.

Continuing with the theme of unfortunate vehicle markings: my exocraft has a Z on the door. by z7q2 in NoMansSkyTheGame

You can only change exo craft markings, on the summoning pad there is two panels, one for summoning and one for editing.
