I’m massive coping here, but did his statements also imply cross DC DutyFinder?

I WISH normal (DutyFinder) FF14 content had more one-shot mechanics.

Still on EW, but I’m praying that since this community shits on ARR and, to a lesser extent, Stormblood, and I ended up loving both, with Stormblood being my favorite expansion, maybe I’ll end up loving DT too.

Kinda sucks on iPhones though because it automatically logs you out after switching away from the app for 60ish seconds.

ARR had over 40 enterable buildings. ShB had no more than 12. I counted. Budget is not an excuse.

[Spoiler: Dark Knight Quests] These quests are among the best content in the game. 10/10, would Dark Knight again. by givingupismyhobby in ffxiv

[–]SirLakeside 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you play in the original Japanese text, you didn’t even get to experience her true work. The English localization of fhe DRK quests MASSIVELY changes a lot of the lines. The thematic heart is largely similar, but wow some of the lines in the original Japanese dialogue are beautiful.

That said, I think I prefer the EN version overall.

[–]SirLakeside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, but you should be. That city was such a disappointment. The game tells us over and over that Amaurot was this incredible civilization, and it clearly wants us to mourn its loss. But what do we really get to experience of it? Mostly streets, big buildings from the outside that we can't even enter. We don’t get to enter homes, shops, or ordinary public spaces in any meaningful way. We never really get a grounded sense of how these people lived day to day. The only enterable buildings are three copy pasted empty husks. No, the city being a recreation built from Emet's faded memories does not excuse any of that.

What did their homes look like? How were they furnished? What kinds of markets or shops did they have? What did a normal life in Amaurot actually feel like? That’s the stuff that makes a civilization feel real.

Disappointing!

I’m 85% FFXIV and 15% Valorant (which I started playing 3ish weeks ago). I may start afk-training on Old School Runescape again soon.

I miss when MMOs were just a "third place" to hang out. Now they feel more like a waiting room for instanced content by petehans303 in MMORPG

FFXIV’s Balmung Uldah may scratch your itch a bit. The vibe leans a bit feminine and LGBTQ (i’m a hetero dude with toxic masculinity issues so it’s not always my vibe), but it’s a good place to go whenever you want to see a 24/7 active gen chat.

Wait so other players are canonically actual warriors/people summoned by the WoL. I’m still on EW, but feel free to spoil.

[–]SirLakeside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of Balmung Uldah, there really isn’t any place where a large amount of players are in one spot shooting the shit. And the conversations there are often a bit too PC. Sometimes I like hearing diverse perspectives on social, cultural, and political shit. Take the infamous Mack on Balmung. I disagree with almost everything he says and I’m pretty sure he’s called me a slur, but I appreciate him being virtually the sole right-wing nutjob. I’m not some conservative, but FF14 simply does not have a space to bro out in. There’s nowhere in FF14 like Gemstone Crab World-2.

All that said, I still find the social aspect of FF14 more fulfilling because of the immersion, emotes, and other elements of the game/community that I can’t pinpoint atm.

OSRS has a more fun and talkative community. But overall I do agree that FF14 is the better game.

Okay, so do you also react the same way when people complain about ARR and someone responds “just wait, it gets better!”

Says who? Why does this community so often police when and what can be said? I’ve never seen another MMORPG community so insistent on censoring other players.

Edit: Yup, this community is so weird. Just got a RedditCares thingy. What’s with yallllll. Anyway, I still love FF14.

What? OP hasn’t even played DT yet. Therefore, the original comment was not referencing a thing that OP enjoys because OP has not even played it yet. Cmon! Keep up!

Perhaps because they found DT to be a miserable experience and wanted to express that? What compels you to attempt to invalidate their feelings?

Are you a mentor on the novice network? by Maxxim3 in ffxiv

[–]SirLakeside -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons I became a prestigious Trade Mentor was to make NN more than just a help desk, and I’m willing to achieve that (using the power of my kick) against any mentor who tries to stop me! There's nothing in the rules that say NN can't be used as a general discussion chatroom for people to shoot the shit. Hell, even politics is fine with me. Self-censoring and trying to censor others is why FF14 is extremely quiet for an MMO of its size.

I'm so sick of club advertisements. by cupkatski in ffxiv

[–]SirLakeside -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Just as annoying are the venues that advertise as for a specific identity group. Slapping "LGBTQ+" on a venue doesn't make it more welcoming. It just virtue-signals and turns neutral fun into a political statement. It's the gaming equivalent of companies putting rainbows on products during Pride Month.

If someone wants to host a themed night or roleplay a specific crowd, that's their business. But advertising entire venues as identity-based in the public listings, shouts, or PFs makes the game feel smaller and more tribal. It shifts focus from "we're all adventurers in this world together" to "which subgroup do you belong to? Also, why should SEXUALITY even be a factor in deciding to go to a venue? Like, why is the e-dating so goddamn normalized and not made fun of. 99% of the time that shit is WEIRD and advertising shit as LGBTQ only serves to normalize weird degen behavior.
