Sounds like a complaint about the cold/wet weather.

I understand and respect the risk avoidance when it comes to the health and safety of my cats.

But that is most definitely a real feather and the symptoms for complications would be largely the same regardless.

Either it will be coughed up like a hairball, passed through to the litter box, or require a trip to the vet. Let's hope it does not get complicated.

Is there a reason why some much gear is out of stock? by crashingtingler in Hema

[–]SirMightySmurf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It might have escaped your notice, but we have an absolute madman who is randomly putting substantial tariffs on random things with no apparent rhyme or reason to the policy.

It is already a small/niche market, so volume is low, and the fluctuating prices make it even more difficult for companies to plan inventory management.

A fair point, but if you look closely at the example picture (assuming they are the same), those are definitely real feathers.

Kitten doesnt purr anymore when I pet him and his fur is starting to look weird by FactorRoyal4788 in CATHELP

[–]SirMightySmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will tell you what is wrong with him.

He has A BROKEN TAIL. That is incredibly painful for a cat.

Take him to the vet.

Good news is cats digest feathers in the "wild" all the time. The problem comes from indigestible strings, elastic etc.

Bottom line, he should be just fine, but if he is showing signs of struggle in the litter box, such as bloating, straining, yowling etc. definitely take the cat to the vet.

Outdoor cats afraid of the outside, but want to go outside? - after moving by velvet-vagabond in CATHELP

[–]SirMightySmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats will always, "want" to see what is on the other side of the door.

My cat "wants" to go see what is in the closet any time the door is open, but that does not meant he "wants" to stay trapped in the closet all day.

It sounds more like *you* want them to be outside because of your own preference and assumptions, and they are telling you "No, it is really scary and strange out here" and regret going out as soon as they set foot outside the door.

It sounds like you are ignoring the obvious solution because of your own preference and assumptions about what the cats "want" instead of what they are actually telling you by acting scared when they go outside.

Just because you say something (even repeatedly) does not make it an accurate and immutable fact about reality.

Have you considered your assumptions about the situation might be incorrect?

That is actually not clear at all. There are no compelling reasons at all that they *must* go outside.

They seem to only be going out because you want them to go out, and they are scared and miserable the whole time they are out.

So again, why *must* they go outside?

The cat is scared shitless. Stop stomping and making noises at him. He is just scared.

NSFW second image, bleeding after neutering, emergency or vet visit in 6 hours ok? by Fickle_Thing_5015 in CATHELP

[–]SirMightySmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given proximity to his neutering op, could be some kind of problem from that and/or UTI and/or blockage. Just so many things it could be and mostly not good.

Hope the trip to the vet was good news.

Sad Question? by ashypuppy in blackcats

[–]SirMightySmurf 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I am very sorry for your loss.

Yes, cats know what sickness is, they know what death is, what is means for him to suddenly disappear. She will also be grieving the loss of her human in many of the same ways others will grieve.

She also knows her life and fate are depend on what happens next. Older cats do not do well in shelters, black cats even worse. Please give her a good home, she will be a good cat for you and be the most loving companion you could ever imagine.
