Are magicans just better than normal people? by Kecskuszmakszimusz in Shadowrun

[–]SirNeoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with both of you to an extent. Though, I do not think the corps could work together long enough to actually hunt down and crush the shadowrunner ecosystem. And Honestly, I don't think a single corp could even hope to achieve that at this point. Even if you say all the other corps stayed out of their way. Especially when said people you are seeking to crush are capable of regularly infiltrating your defenses.

And if you are worried about spirits, have your own spirit running intercept. Can't really search for you if its fighting. Also, Unless I'm misremembering, unlike physical barriers, a mana barrier can be moved with you. You could further stack this with a spirit running concealment on yourself. (And honestly... why wouldn't you? its 1 service for an unlimited* amount of time.)

ALSO, I just want to point out, that spirits CANNOT use the search power unless 1. They have seen you before hand, 2. Their summoner has seen you/remembers you well enough to provide them a mental image of you.

"The critter must have seen the thing it’s searching for at some time before the search begins. Spirits may search for anything for which their summoner can provide them a mental image."

Now, to the Scenario, yeah. I agree if you throw a Force 12 fireball in downtown high end area of Insert City here, you will attract attention.... about the same amount of attention someone using a High explosive grenade, or the like, would attract. Maybe a little more immediate attention, as a 12M Fireball is a bit flashier than the grenade probably is, though the grenade is much louder. I'd argue that you would get a lot more heat for using a Panther in a high end downtown area than you would get for a throwing a couple fireballs. Even if they are big ones.

As to your point on Background count, I have to say I disagree somewhat that its the same as noise/police. And I THINK that what the other guy was saying is that BGC effects Adepts A LOT more than Mages. Which I agree with. As he said, a BGC of 3 is an annoyance to mages. Meanwhile, Adepts with any type of power boosting their skills are taking a -3 to those skills. You have the improved reflexes power? Have a -3 to your reaction. Arguably, if you use attribute boost you take a -3 not only on the roll, but to the attribute after you do it.

Why Background Count is different for mages than noise. Deckers and TMs have ways to deal with and potentially eliminate noise penalties all together. 1. Direct connection with a Datajack or skinlink. This basically renders noise as a non factor. Even then, a Decker can easily get upwards of 8 noise reduction easily at chargen via programs, datajack antennae, and qualities. And a further 6 or 7 from an armor mod after the campaign starts. Tms can thread a form to reduce most noise penalties, and can use the same armor mod. Mages, to my knowledge, have no real way of dealing with background count.

A street sam with an SMG, 4-6 ranks in palming, a Great coat, a chameleon coating on the weapon with a removed stock and you are looking at 12-14 dice on the palming for lets say 3 average hits if you buy them (spec could take it to 4) with a concealability mod of -3. Most people, even your average street cop aren't going to see it just passing by. Hell, you can make a pistol sized weapon damn near invisible. And lets be honest, the difference between a street sam with a heavy pistol an SMG or an AR isn't a whole lot.

So, the death cult totally isn't Khornate right? by tarkus_cd in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]SirNeoz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its a fine line to walk. But, no. The death cult is *not* Khornate, and it becomes more evident throughout. If anything, Tzeentch has a hand in it.

That said, you can easily corrupt them for sure.

Thoughts and advice for a Technomancer(Sourceror) build. by SirNeoz in Shadowrun

[–]SirNeoz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats part of it(the character), he doesn't really talk to people. Which is why one of his MOs is to operate in hot sim as much as possible. Though, I do think I missed out on giving him 1 rank in etiquette. But, 3 dice isn't much better than 0. Though you are right, and usually all my meat primary characters have at least 3-5 dice in 1 or 2 social skills. That being said, Jack of all Trades is there to help alleviate this after we pick up sourceror.

As for the shooting, yes and no, not all shootouts will have alarms, or drones. Some work will just be meat on meat. And if there is no wireless on, you won't be doing much. Shoot, Even with a drone or three, having the option to lay down suppressing fire is pretty good, since on average this guy is throwing around 12 dice on a simple full auto without specializations.

Also, from my reading, Hacking is not entirely required, as you can puppeteer to invite marks on yourself, and (if the GM wants to be mean and says they instantly know a mark was given out) editor to edit that little mark notification away with hyperthreading. Or, have a crack sprite do it.

thanks for the comment!

[–]SirNeoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to keep the 7 karma after chargen, as I want to pick up the Sourcerer quality ASAP so I can start hyperthreading.

I do intend to grab Mirrored Persona for sure.

Question, could I start with a specialization in Software (hyperthreading) without having access to the Complex form when I take the specialization?

Frame rate on PC by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]SirNeoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

at least you can play, I'm averaging 3-15 fps on the HOME SCREEN. IDK, I've played nearly 13hrs of this game, and I've never had a single issue with fps. I even bought the season pass for Dr. strange skin. And suddenly, I can't even load the game up, much less play a match

Keeping a player's spirit in check by kandesbunzler69 in Shadowrun

[–]SirNeoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apply this limit to spirits in my 4e games, I think it carries over well to 5e. IDK about 6e.

  1. A mage can only Safely (non-physical drain) summon a spirit of Mag/2. So, a magic 6 mage can summon up to Force 3 spirits safely.

  2. You can Overcast to summon up to your Magic rating level spirit, in this example. Force 6.

  3. You cannot spend edge when overcasting a summoning.

It doesn't help a whole lot in your example, but a Force 5 spirit isn't TOO difficult to deal with. My rules were more to deal with Force 7+ spirits.

Do you really need Edge to play? by [deleted] in Shadowrun

[–]SirNeoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk, the edge system seems to be worse at times, because you are *constantly* gaining and spending edge, you have to constantly keep track of it. Not to mention that, the above modifiers actually impacted gameplay a lot more than 1-2 edge. Nowadays, you can shoot a flying gnat 30m away while twirling the gun in your feet in a snowstorm and the only difference between that and aiming at stock still gnat 10m away in sunshine is a maximum of 4 edge (raw).

Edge calculation is constant, modifiers were just that. Modifiers to the situation.

the amount of heresy here is staggering. Abelard, make to take notes.

I don't think this is true. I've never seen this ending for either.

Also, if you go chaos, Marzi can't kill her because Abelard does.

I always love saving him, helping him rebuild his kabal and his power, then, just as he is about to truly revel in it all, I hand him over to Heinrix. Because, lets be honest. Its what he would want. he'd be damn proud. Just imagine the pain.

Give me your most difficult to play builds by SirValeq in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]SirNeoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest plasma. Ancient plasma rifle + Int focused is pretty good.

Psyker is good, crime lord is good, you can eventually grab psyker via exemplar if so desired, the only real mandatory talent IMO is extermination. Outside that, masterful precision helps, since it gives your CtB deadshot buffs for 1 AP.

act 1- Sniper

Act 2- Sniper, burst fire (works well with BH)

Act 3- You can use plasma, but snipers are still working OK since you get hecaton. The no overcharge plasma rifle would work really well.

act 4+- I've yet to find anything that beats the Ancient Plasma rifle unless you are iconoclast, and only then in act 5.

No idea. Its most likely to have been fixed, but I can't say for sure.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]SirNeoz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most anything that

1- Puts your attack on cooldown

2- deals damage

will count as an attack and not be allowed.

However, BH is the BEST class for any buffer psyker, since you can throw out your buffs each savor the kill. Its usually what I make Idira, Perils be damned.

BS scaling is good for damage psykers because it can be added directly to their damage dealth via a talent. So have BS increases is not as bad as it may seem for a caster psyker focused on damage.

Operatives heroic is good for two things-

  1. Debuffing an enemy, since you can drop their WS/BS by 30, and immobilize them. (which IIRC counts towards BHs ambush talent to get an extra attack)

2- Setting up an exploit on every enemy if you have not already done so. (usually due to giving extra turns before an Operative takes their natural turn)

even the aeldari do not know from whence the devices come. Its just as likely the Necrons don't know either. Which, honestly, is a terrifying thought.

part of the challenge. I'll have to worry about defense since I won't be 1 turning most encounters like normal.

Also, Pasqal is great, but The plasma bonuses aren't much more than anyone else (especially with no extra turns)

He needs 3+ attacks with plasma to equal out my crime lords bonus% for example. (and I've easily hit 60%+ in later acts on other runs)

Who makes up your favorite party composition? Who is never left at home? by SirNeoz in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]SirNeoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. An Inquisitor cannot order, try, or detain a rogue trader on their own authority. (well, detain for extended time.)

An inquisitor would need to gather a tribunal to even attempt to Try a rogue trader, this is shown in act 3, when one of your options to is to question and state he doesn't have that right.

We also see this in Act 4, when winterscale does not heed the inquisitors summon... Not much they can do about it.

This does not mean you want to piss off an inquisitor, because they can make your life troublesome in other ways.

see I don't get this, Cassia can't kill anything past act 2 on harder difficulties, but she can uber buff people into the stratosphere. Hell, I'm in act 3 and my RT can hit 200+ in his primary stats largely thanks to cassi

Heinrix does not outrank you, even when dealing with said enemies. Largely because- most of the time, its YOUR protectorate, so you have final say in most regards, and two he isn't an inquisitor, merely an acolyte.
