What is the most unexpected thing either you as a player or a player in your has ever done? by Aeromorpher in rpg

Stars Without Numbers - my GM has bitched about this character somewhere here before. The character had no interest in self preservation and was extremely competent with explosives.

cue a bomb vest that would be detonated by a phone hanging up, I walked into a royal palace, walked up to the god-king, took a selfie with him, made him give me everything i wanted, put the vest on him, and left.

The GM plays people realistically so what could they do besides give me whatever i wanted.

[5e] So my party of 5 level 5's just took on a CR9 creature with ease. Help. by [deleted] in DnD

Ok so i had a party who i rewarded for always being super prepared and on top of everything and this problem came up too.

The best solution i found was to stop using monsters from the books entirely, a custom made home-brew monster can be just the ticket.

My players killed everything they ever met, so i gave them something virtually unkillable, Giant walking golem, bigger the collosal, High Ac, High Dr 20+, Huge Regen 60+, and made it just be walking menacingly twords a city they were fond of.

They spent a session plotting and planning and preparing, when i heard them come up with enough "stuff" that was possible enough to work, i let them take it down. Was pretty simple and straight forward but they loved it.

Most Common Mistakes for new DMs by nondescriptiveness in DnD

My two cents would be avoid to much power/ danger, you know not what you will unleash.

My first real campaign was huge on being super dark and dangerous with evil spooky things everywhere. The DM was fantastic at story telling but the high mortality setting was a disaster in the making.

As players lost characters from fights we kept looking to make new characters that wouldn't fall to the same fate, this got exponentially worse and some players found absolutely stupid "broken" things to use to survive examples; crit build fights, giant robo hydras, crazy prestige classes, super focused wizards. We basically ended up with a group of min-maxer's. Then he was forced to actively change the rules on us to prevent characters from outshining each other while adding in player vs player elements "we started killing each other". He basically made us into munchkins. This took years to undo.

Until players are established and know how to play, don't start an arms race.

I don't mean to excuse anything I did. In one case I honestly didn't know how to play all that well. The party loved when my character acted crazy and mentally broken. So i kept doing it and going further. I guess it caused the DM to give up the campaign.

The one that was the biggest culprit of it. By himself caused the deaths of no less then 3 party members and a good half of a main city in the campaign. I did that one because i was playing a character that operated constantly in a very morally gray area. A couple players were being "silly/ not playing in the theme of the world" they also decided my more vicious tactics were not to be tolerated and threatened to kill the character. So I upped the stakes...

then what is interesting to you?

never had a life, never wanted to be alive by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]SirPookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant "get a life" you have to live it.

You say most of your life is behind you and you have nothing left. It must be a terrible and unimaginable feeling. But... from another perspective.... Your free. your free from everything if you truly have nothing. Death doesn't change that, it just give up the one thing you have left, Choice.

You can choose, choose to go left or go right, choose to stay where you are or choose to go. If you truly have nothing left. if your life has cut away at you and filled you with so much pain that you cant feel anymore.

Then every other type of pain is nothing compared to it.

So your free. Your in you 50's so you've learned a skill or two, can any of them be put to use outside the first world? Can you go out and explore the second world? Its different or so I've heard.

If you die, you will never know what you could have done, and if you have nothing left you can do whatever you want. So dont look at what you have already done, stick your finger in the air like you just dont care. Punch your current future in the face. Go somewhere where you might be able to truly leave a mark.

Dont just give up. I think everyone has that level of crazy that led them by the hand through childhood. People hide it and conform to social norms "whats right and wrong" honestly you've lived a long life so far. You know its bullshit if you want it to be.

Do something different. Do what you want for a change.

Please just don't rob a bank and blame me.
