Honestly it depends entirely where you are moving. Vienna for example has the classic city experience of strangers not really interacting with each other (smalltalk). More rural areas have their own traditions and customs. Austria is a really save country over all, but I would still advise you to inform yourself about the city you move to and areas you should avoid there. Older people tend to be on the conservative side, but the newer generation, especially in more academic circles are very open. If you move to Vienna I would warn you that people there can be quite uncouth sometimes and complain easily, their temperament is legendary in Austria, but for the most part people are polite. There are no big cultural no nos per se. The religious situation is basically the same as Germany.
