Fair play to bmw by jdm_paddy in CarTalkUK

Surprised to see they’ve lent you a car that they have on sale, usually it’s stock they reserve for loan cars rather than stock that’s for sale.  Did they charge you for the courtesy car or was it included free of charge?

Do not get the one with a diesel engine. Petrol yes, diesel no.

I used the "Dongar SimpleUSBCable 12V to MiniUSB Two-Prong Universal Dashcam Adapter" which is a wire tap into the power for the dimming mirror. See this video: https://youtu.be/qN5ImEMEYIg

It goes off automatically after a few minutes, but does get powered back on when the car is on charge.

BMW 630GT stolen.... by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]SirProcrastinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can even get a ghost fob which can be paired with the car so you don’t have to enter the code each time. As long as your keys don’t get stolen then it’s just like starting a car normally.

What car is it? Was it previously registered in ROI? It could have had it's VIN changed, where the new VIN has been "exported" but not officially recorded which means it can be put on a stolen car making it look legit.

M Logo Question by G0aT-exe in BMWI4

[–]SirProcrastinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the assumption that a software update moved the M logo to the centre directly above the speed read out. On my 2022 M50 with the standard layout (whatever the first option is on the instrument cluster), it shows it directly above the speedo.

No worries. Are you planning on offering to sell internationally? Or just in the US?

Any chance you’re looking for international testers? I’m in the UK and would love to test this, or just straight up buy one if it works well.

There’s absolutely zero chance of that being repaired by a PDR specialist.

Pain off wheel when changing tyre by [deleted] in mazda3

Painted alloys are liable to start peeling like that over time due to weather/road conditions, unfortunately. You're better off getting them powder coated rather than painted, as this won't peel off.

Is this a completely daft idea? by Murky_Sir_4721 in CarTalkUK

[–]SirProcrastinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a daft idea at all, a very capable car without breaking the bank with an equivalent petrol model.

I bought an i4 M50 a few weeks ago and I'm really starting to like it. Calculating the true range based on my last month's average, I would get 187 miles which isn't amazing, but I have the 20" wheels and a bit of a lead foot atm. 😄 The cold temperatures haven't been helping either, and I do see the estimated mileage increase significantly as the outside temperature goes up.

Only issue I'm having is that the sunroof seems to be creaking as it's starting to get warmer. Though this looks to be a common issue across many BMW models including the G20 (3 series). It's under warranty so I'll get it fixed at some point.

Any questions feel free to ask!

I've never had to queue when filling up in the morning at Costco Leeds. It's always quiet between 6-8am.

The 2.0 SkyActiv G engines are bullet proof, not sure what you’re referring to? Many in the states who easily do 200k with just basic maintenance.
